Came here the second time for another friends birthday! I can't get enough of their salmons here, and pastas!! Services here are great! Made a reservation the night before for a group of people! Arrived a few minutes late and the waiter say us down quickly. Food is fine as always. Great place to dine with a group of friends in bay ridge!

M&M seems like it'd be a cool little bar with cocktail tables and a row of patio tables as well, but they also have a nice dining room in the back that's dimly lit and a bit more intimate. Mussels were good, as you might hope for it's namesake dish. We got the Maine Sauce (lobster, bacon, cream, etc). Super rich but super delicious. Portion was generous but the seafood was a bit overcooked. Seafood Paella was just average...actually wasn't really a paella....no crispy crust or caramelized edges and the rice seemed like it was a just coated with a seafood sauce afterwards. They served it in a regular dish and not a paella pan so I'm guessing they just quickly stir fried the rice quickly instead of cooking all the ingredients together. Service was decent, not outstanding but not bad either. Overall, nice dining experience. I'd go back and get the mussels again. =)

My first time there with my best friend was a decent experience. We ordered grilled octopus, seafood angel hair pasta with white sauce and a bucket of mussels. The food was overall good but something gave us a stomach ache afterwards. My second time I was there, I had similar food with an addition of raw clams and oysters. I highly recommend the calamari there. This time around, the pasta was too watered down. The service was incredibly slow and our waiter disappeared multiple times. We waited 15 minutes for someone to come give us the bill and another 10 minutes for them to take our payment.

This is my go to place before I catch a move at the alpine theater, so of course I have been here several times. I'm not the biggest seafood lover but the food here is really good and there are other options if you don't want seafood... Yea, weird going to a seafood restaurant when u hate seafood but stranger things have happened. The space is divided in two, with the bar completely separated from the restaurant. You enter into the bar area which is pretty big with TVs to watch the game and large tables if you wish to dine there. There is no view of the resistant from the bar area, you have to pass through a narrow hallway to enter the restaurant, located in the back. The restaurant is also pretty big and more on the casual side. The staff is very nice and attentive. Three times I ended up at the same table with the same server and he remembered me ... Well, I'll say I'm not too easy to forget ;) but he definitely got points for that. The food was great as always... If you like salmon you will love their stuffed salmon with spinach and cheese served with mashed potatoes. Their pizzas are also pretty good, oh and the sweet potato fries, yummmm! I also tried my boyfriend's seafood risotto and that was good also. In the Summer time they have outdoor seating, which I love! Definitely give this place a try, especially if you love seafood, you won't be disappointed. The owner is awesome, really nice guy... We had a brief chat once and he is always around.

My husband and I went here for our Friday night date. As soon as we walked in till the moment we left we had amazing customer service. There was an older gentleman there who kinda walked with a limp, maybe the owner? He seated us in the back and right away waiters tended to us. We were told the special for the night and the most popular dishes, we were also recommended a great bottle of wine. We ordered 2 different app. Grilled octopus and Calamari. Either of them are superb! Both were tender and juicy, very delicious. We shared the entree. Angle hair pasta with olive oil, and a white wine sauce, lots and lots of steamed muscles, clams and Calamari were added with fresh garden herbs, we also ordered a pot of the steamed muscles with lobster meat. So delicious, a must try if you visit this restaurant. I have no complaints about this place. It's clean, friendly staff, very fast service, and food is amazing! We will defiantly we visiting here again soon and taking some friends with us to share with them our wonderful finding.

For appetizers we ordered clams and oysters from the raw bar and they were all very fresh. Afterwards we had a red snapper which was soft, tender,, and moist, the branzino was a little dry and Thai mussels were a little small but everything tasted very good.

the food is amazing and the $1 oysters for lunch are probably the greatest deal I've ever encountered in my life especially for their amazing quality as well as the amazing quality of the rest of the menu. I highly recommend this place!

I was in the mood for some seafood and wanted to give this place a shot since. I heard from the waiter that you should come during lunch time. It gets very busy at dinner and must put in a reservation. The ambience is very nice and a perfect place to grab lunch or dinner. Being that this place is called Mussels & More, I had to order mussels. I went with the classic Mussels, which has white wine, herbs, and garlic. The mussels were fantastic. The white wine sauce was absolutely delicious. They give you a lot of mussels. It comes in a small pot. I also got the Fried Oysters, which were good in taste, but I think they put too much batter in it. I had mostly the fried part, but tasted a little of the oysters. You must come here for Mussels.

I love the outdoor seating. It was my first time here on a summer weekday and the staff was friendly and accomodating. We has the mussels, of course. The classic mussles were nicely seasoned, sauce so light with the right amount of taste n spice that i deem it my favorite so far. Ive had flex mussels classic in the city before n theirs were different because it was a little heavier, if u want a comparison . Unfortunately I just cant explain why their batch of mussels were smaller than the usual. Next we had the fish n chips. The fish was lightly fried with a good amount of batter... not too much. Fish was so fluffy n nicely done that I was fighting with my partner for the last piece. We also had two bottles of the sauvignon blanc which went dwn real easy. Not dry, just a little fruity and not too sweet, a good recommendation by our bartender. Lovely weekday evening on my part. Will come back for the bisque mussels and raw clams that are raved by the other yelpers.... and o yea.. did I mention they have fantasicly spacious outdoor seating? ... along with impeccable service.

Been there for lunch at least 6 times in the past few months and I love it. They have a large selection of mussels, from classic to creative flavors. The quality is very consistent, I never been disappointed. The wine & beer selection is nicely priced. The outdoor seating is definitely a plus.

My staff and I took our high school students here for a dinner celebration and they enjoyed it! The fried oysters and baked clams are a MUST! For me it was the first time indulging in either clams or oysters and let's just say I am a HUGE fan now. The service was excellent and the venue was very cozy and modern. The exposed brick wall is always a nice touch when your dining in Brooklyn, Bay Ridge to be exact.

First time at this establishment was a great experience. Ambiance feels very cozy they have a full bar which is great. Bunch of tvs to watch sporting events and they also have an outside seating area. I ordered the chicken penne alla vodka which was delicious.

I've only ordered from this place once - the lobster roll and French fries. The fries are amazing and perfectly salted. The lobster roll (it's like a tuna sandwich but with lobster) had a bit too much dressing but the bread was delicious. I'd like to try other items on the menu

Mussels? Clams? YES PLEASE! Atmosphere - Came here on a rainy and gloomy day with my friend, we thought it was closed at first because the bar area in the front was empty. However we walked to the back and there was a dining area and a host was there. The dining area was spacious and yet it felt cozy. There were tables next to huge windows and fairy lights strung all around. This place would be perfect for a first date! Food - I got the seafood paella, baked clams (breaded) and my friend got the classic mussels in a pot with white wine. The food was on par, I'm usually not a seafood type of girl but damn the clams changed me for the better! The classic mussels were delicious also, maybe cause of the white wine added, it gave it a nice touch ;) Lastly, the seafood paella was definitely a pleaser, this is my 3rd time eatting paella and I've yet to be disappointed! I will be coming back soon to get more of their clams and possibly sample a pasta this time!

Oysters were actually one of the best I've had! They were big, succulent, and tasted fresh. I could have eaten 50. Had mussels as well (the most basic bitch one) and they give you a huge pot of it! Bravo Mussels and More!

Took some family members here for dinner who was visiting from another country. The service was okay but the wait for the food was too long. I was going to give this restaurant 1 star due to the Molded Bread that they served us with!!!! However the food was okay but nothing too crazy about...

Just came back from eating here and I must say that I like this spot a lot. At first, we were confused with how the place worked because there was a bar and some tables in the front and no one assisted us. Soon afterwards, a waitress came out and told us the dining room was in the back. Everything we ordered here was really good, but of course, some were better than others. They start you off with complimentary soft bread and a spicy tomato sauce dip. Should have kept it to eat with the mussels! We ordered grilled octopus, sweet potato fries, beer battered fried clams, paella, little neck clams with mussels, mussels in lobster bisque, and an angel hair pasta that I didn't really get to try so i won't review that! Grilled octopus-Tasty, but didn't care for the sauce it came with. Also, for $12, it probably would've been better to try the calamari. Sweet potato fries-These were really good wedge cut sweet potato fries. Would definitely recommend this. Beer battered fried clams-Came out piping hot, so be careful! These weren't the best I've had, but were pretty juicy and yummy. Paella-Not an amazing paella, but it was good and had lots of green olives, if you're into that (I am). Little neck clams with mussels-This dish also had bacon pieces so you would automatically think it's a win, but it really was alright. Wasn't too fond of the broth. I wouldn't order it again. Mussels in lobster bisque-Best dish we tried! Bisque was very flavorful and actually I kinda can't wait to eat it again...Lobster with mussels...Why not?! I just kinda wish the mussels were a bit bigger and meatier in general. Overall, we were pretty pleased with everything and definitely want to go back! :)

With all these positive reviews, I must have come on an off day. With "mussels" as the name of the place, you'd expect the mussels to be good. But we sent our mussels pot back. Some mussels were stinky dead bad. Probably a bad batch or off day from the supplier. But the way it was cooked was also terrible...not meaty, some mussels looked like it disintegrated. Baked clams ok, not great. Grilled octopus was underwhelming, not a good value at $16. Only 2 and a half thin tentacles. Taste and texture was like a "Slim Jim" All reviewers raving about this dish are now on notice of a credibility drop if my octopus is how it is supposed to taste. I've had much better octopus st other places. This was a lunch outing. Perhaps I got the previous night's scraps?

If I had gotten better service, this place would have been 5 stars! It is such a change from the old Mexican Pub/ restaurant hat used to be here. You walk in and are greeted by a large bar to your right, they don't have too many TV's so don't expect to watch football here unless its MNF, no redzone needed. It's a bit confusing because you are looking for a host station but keep walking, the dining room is ahead of you and you will find a host. Finally seated, we of course ordered the mussels.. Hello? It's called mussels and more, I don't think it would be fair to review them without trying .. okay, truth... I love mussels!! My mom and I shared the Spartan mussels, olives, garlic, and tomato... It was pure deliciousness! We asked for more bread despite having been giving a large bucket of bread to dip, the broth was so good we needed more. We also ordered the fish and chips, and the seafood salad. I wasn't crazy about the fish and chips but that is never really my thing. It was okay but my mom really enjoyed them and the fish was cooked well. The seafood salad was enormous and delicious!! The seafood was so fresh and lightly dressed so it wasn't overwhelming. It was the perfect accompaniment to the heavier fried fish and chips! It created a wonderful balance. We were too full for dessert! Now, our waitress was good with taking our orders but terrible with refilling our drinks. We would sit there with empty glasses, praying she would walk by. I hate being thirsty while eating, it is the worst!! Next time, I may sneak in a poland spring ;) There will be a next time!

I totally loved this place! I went with my bf to have lunch for our 1 mont anniversary and we had a really good time. He ordered the "grilled octopus" which was great and I ordered the "grilled salmon" that came with roasted lemon potatoes and delicious veggies (broccoli, zucchini and carrots). The salmon was incredibly it tasted so good!! We're def coming back. The average price for a plate is like $18. Which I believe is good if we look at the area, lol idk I just love bay ridge.

Not great . Not even good . Service was poor on a very slow Monday . The drinks weren't very good . Some of the appetizers came out cold . Nice atmosphere with a comfortable big bar .

2nd time there and I have loved it both time. Muscles and lobster bisque is the best!! Cajun shrimp and chicken over fettuccine was the perfect amount of spice to go with a glass of Malbec!

I brought my family here earlier tonight for our Mother's Day dinner. It has got to be the best Mother's Day dinner we've had in a while! On a busy day such as this, most kitchens are overwhelmed and therefore the food would come out sub-par. But this was not the case here. Every dish we had was perfectly delicious!! The quality did not suffer. We all shared the following dishes: Thai mussels - as soon as we pulled the lid off, we were greeted with a fragrant scent of curry. You'd think this would mean it'd be super spicy, but it wasn't. It was flavorful, yet there wasn't too much heat; it had just the right amount of kick to it!! We ate the hell out if it! We needed more bread, just so we can sop up the sauce on our plates. Linguine with white clam sauce - there was actually a generous amount of clams on a half shell in this dish! This is the real deal!! The clams were a good size - they're twice the size of the ones you'd get with black bean sauce in a Chinese restaurant. (Fyi, this is my go-to dish whenever I have pasta anywhere. So yes, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to linguine w/white clam sauce! The worst I've had it was when there were no clams on a half shell, just the diced up bits you'd get from a can and chunks of garlic as filler.) Grilled tuna steak w/avocado salad - I'm normally not a salad person, but we ordered this as a "palate cleanser". This is great as a stand-alone meal. It's the type of salad where you won't feel like you're still hungry (or cheated), because all you ate was air. It was surprisingly filling! Seafood paella - as avid rice eaters, we are very persnickety about the texture of the rice. The rice here was cooked to perfection (not too soft and not too hard)! The bits of shrimp, mussels and chorizo added the right amount of sweet and savory flavor to the rice, it was well-balanced (not heavy, yet not bland). A great dish for my dad, who insists on having rice for dinner! Skirt steak - dollar to donuts, this is the BEST skirt steak I've EVER had! I'm usually torn between ordering this or something else whenever I come here. So I totally took advantage of having my family with me by getting THIS, along with the above tonight! We also ate the hell out of it!! My brother had cut this steak into 4 quarters - a piece for each of us - but my mom wanted only an eighth, since she was getting full. (I totally looked at her like she had 3 heads, for refusing!!) After having a brief back/forth with me about how she can't eat anymore, she ate her eighth. Then, 5 mins later, she ended up eating almost all of the original piece that was cut for her! Since it was Mother's Day, I stopped myself from giving her the "Uh Huh!" face. I'm pretty sure if the steak wasn't so tasty, she would've stood her ground! P.S. - We did not have any leftovers tonight, because we cleaned our plates; but this place is "doggy bag-friendly". They use those plastic tupperware to pack your leftovers. I hate it when I come home with leftovers only to find they've spilt allover the bag and everything is now greasy/wet (cue the frustrated infomercial face). So points for thinking about your customers even after they've left the restaurant!!

Their mussel pots are nothing to snicker at. Huge portions that will make every seafood fan very happy. The taste is fresh and the bread awesome. It gets quite busy so try to get here early. We didn't have a reservation so we had to settle for bar seating. It wasn't as comfortable but the service was much quicker. The broth that the mussels came in can feed you for hours on end as long as you have bread. Great spot for seafood!

I came here yesterday for my mom's birthday dinner. I've always wanted to try this place out and was excited to be there. We ordered: Mussel Pots Pesto - This was my least favorite. It was good but not as good as all of the other ones that we've tried. Bruscetta - This was DELICIOUS! It had chunks and chunks of lobster meat in it and the sauce was amazing! We ate all of the croutons that they put in the pot but had to ask for more bread so we can dip it into the sauce! They were super generous with the lobster meat as well so everyone had a big piece of lobster. Maine - My sister ordered this as her entre and she couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was. The broth was white and was full of flavor since they put bacon in it. Who can resist bacon?! But her only complaint about this dish was that they put very little lobster meat in this (maybe they used it all up for our Bruscetta pot?) and she also said she had pieces of imitation crabmeat in it as well. Maybe next time they can give more lobster meat and trash that imitation crabmeat! Bisque - I ordered this as my entre and boy was it yummy! Unlike my sister's pot, I had HUGE pieces of lobster in mine. The sauce was amazing! AMAZING! Decent amount of mussels as well but I couldn't finish it because I was super full so I took it to go! Grilled Octopus - This was good but some of the pieces that I ate was super dry. Brazino - We ordered the whole fish. It was a tad overcooked because the fish meat was dry and it was a bit bland for my liking. Tuna Steak - My brother ordered this and enjoyed it very much. He finished the whole entre even though he was super stuffed. It came with potoes and rice on the side. Scallops - On the menu it did not say that it was similar to a marsala. My brother-in-law ordered this and was disappointed. It was literally a glob of sauce over the scallops. It also came with a few pieces of vegetables and risotto on the side. He did not touch his dish because of how poor the presentation was and believe me, it did not look appetizing at all. Definitely not ordering this ever! Overall, our experience was good and our waiter was super nice and helpful! I cannot wait to come back here again for their delicious mussels! :D

Mussels and more is actually a pretty good place. When it first opened I wasn't crazy about it. The last two times I went I enjoyed the food. Not sure if they got a new chef, new management or if that first day I went things were just off but I'd recommend this place. The set up is nice they have outdoor seating and nice high tables inside which I like. Ive had the pleasure of coming here for a party one night as well so I was able to try numerous things. They have a pretty extensive menu and everything is good from the seafood down to the buffalo wings. They also have a nice bar selection with those cool ice coolers for the bottles. Overall its a good spot to grab some seafood and just chill. I went with a very noisy group and they didn't seem to mind!

This review is more for 3.5 stars. Came here for a friend's birthday party. Had all sorts of Mussels for the appetizer. The mussels were big and juicy and the broth for it was fantastic. I liked the regular one the most. For Entrees I ordered the tuna steak and asked for medium rare but when I got it, it was more towards medium well. The tuna was very tough and chewy so I really didn't enjoy it. Tried to offload it to friends but they didn't like it either. Our group was huge with about 15 people but they werr able to accommodate us so this is a good place for groups! Overall the place is good, staff was very good but my entree was lacking so much, I couldn't give it 4 stars. Mussels were very good though.

One of my boyfriend's favorite restaurants, but not so much anymore. Every time we've been here, it's been in the afternoon when it's pretty dead. Service is just okay, not outstanding. Must flag waiter down which doesn't make sense because we're usually the only table? Food is a hit or miss. Prices are average. Play it safe and order the mussels at a place called Mussels & More. Ordered a salad once, a sandwich another time. Very mediocre as much as I try to like the place.

My boyfriend always wanted to bring me here after coming with some friends. At first honestly it wasn't what i expected but it's actually really nice. They have outdoor seating and a inside bar it's a really good spot to visit and hang out. The mussels were very tasty and the main entrees were great. Overall great experience.

So now that I've been to this place a few times - Love the option of outdoor seating during the spring & summer, and waiter service is always friendly, but not always that efficient. They have very fairly priced cocktails and wines on the menu, along with a decent selection of beers on tap. Off the top of my head, four varieties of raw oysters are on the menu (blue points, kumamoto....can't remember the others), as well as raw clams. They have a fantastic deal on $1 oysters before 7pm on weekdays...not sure if this was on weekends too. For the appetizers, get the saganaki (fried cheese, must be Greek owners - think mozz & tomatoes at a steak joint), fried calamari, grilled octopus, and/or fried oysters (but can get a bit greasy). Entrees: Haven't gotten a chance to try all of the mussels (we usually get the bisque, but some of the other ones have been hit or miss), but the broth is great and super savory. Most of the pastas are great, and they'll mix/match noodles and seafood to taste. The paella was also very good. They do need some better music/ambient noise, but overall great spot in Bay Ridge to go to.

This is the perfect restaurant if you're looking for a nice seafood dinner with friends, family, or your significant other. The grilled octopus appetizer is a must. I've never had an octopus that tender and juicy before and it went great with the olive oil. My friends enjoyed the fried oysters also. Now onto the best part of their menu: the mussels, hence the name of the restaurant. They have an expansive selection, and each looks just as good as the next. It took my friends a good 10 minutes to decide which ones to order. We finally decided on the fungi (comes with mushrooms and bacon) and the Mexican (comes with chorizo and calamari). They were delicious! My friends and I couldn't get enough; we wanted to drink the broth too, but we didn't want to look like slobs. There is a lot more seating in the back of the restaurant. The owner, or at least I think he was the owner, greeted us when we first walked in and he came by our table several times throughout the night. I will definitely be coming back here again!

One of the best seafood restaurants I've ever been too! Great dining area and service. The seafood paella is amazing and loaded with seafood as well as the seafood pasta. The scallops with risotto was very tasty. The mussels speak for themselves. Top quality food with generous portions that won't break the bank and this place also delivers!

Went here with a group of 4 on a sunday night. The front part of the restaurant is the bar area and the back is the table area. We had no reservations but the place wasn't too jammed pack. My gf and I shared the thai mussels and stuffed salmon. Food was good. They also gave you complimentary bread (which you can ask for more). Make sure you get more break and use it on the mussel dipping sauce. We also shared sweet potato fries and fried calamari. Calamari came with it's usual marinara sauce and sweet fries with a honey mustard sauce. Willing to come back again.

My husband and I went this weekend for an early dinner. We both thought it was just ok. The bread was very nice & I like that they serve it with a peppery sauce, but we both thought it would have been extra special if the sauce was warm. We had a shrimp Cocktail, which was very overpriced. I wouldn't have called the shrimp they gave us Jumbo & at $16 I wouldn't order that again. I had the fettuccini seafood Diablo. It was ok - not great, not bad. A large portion for sure but I wouldn't order it again. My husband had the paella and again it was ok. Not great & not bad. He said he wouldn't order it again. I don't think we'd go back because it's quite pricey, which is understandable as it's seafood, but for average food we'd rather go elsewhere.

Leaving yelp reviews during Sunday Night Football and a winning fantasy football team for the week makes for a generous star rating...this place is more of a 2 - 2 1/2 stars, but hey... Stopped by with hubbs for a quick lunch on a tuesday after having mussels at Le Paddock (amazing!) over the weekend and craving more good shells...figured since the crave food is in the restaurant name - shouldnt disappoint. Womp Womp. Sat outside so didnt get a chance to see the dining area, but outside and bar area decor is minimal and casual...service also the bare minimum and a bit rude (only other table there seemed to get similar treatment and we are def an easy to please couple so the guy must've just been having a bad day)... Food: ordered the calamari, spartan mussels, and side of fries... calamari was very basic side fries were clumpy - leading me to believe they're frozen/poorly thawed Mussels - impressive size pot -- very disappointing mussels...broth was flavorless and olives were bigger than 98% of the mussels...we also couldn't get rid of a "mussel" taste for the rest of the night which is unusual so it makes me question the freshness vs. frozenness of these lil guys Overall - nothing to come back for and nothing to recommend...

Great seafood for the area. The oysters, though expensive were tasty. The baked clams were amazing. The seafood paella was also extremely good. My wife and I split everything. Service was also friendly and speedy.

Love this place! Since ive tried it, its worth every cent ! Is 1 of the only if not the only place that actually gives you musscles and pasta with what it actually says it includes not 1 or 2 small pieces of shrimp or lobster but a fair amount!

I came here for a friends birthday sometime last month because she LOVES this place. She made reservations about a week in advance for 14 of us. We sat comfortably. For such a large party I would say our service was pretty good. Our waitress did bring out the wrong dish and forget to change that on the bill but I think that the person who ordered the dish was at fault. My friend recommended the sea food salad, and me trusting her good judgement...I ordered the paella (Lol just kidding, she has great taste, I was just craving Paella) After I ordered she said to me that the Paella was just okay. Andddd she was right lol. Most of the group on my end of the table ordered pasta and I was SO jealous because everyone's pasta looked WAY better than my dish. Not that my Paella was bad, Im just used to a yummy spanish Paella with YELLOW rice and smelling the deliciousness. My paella looked, bland, blah and not to mention the rice was white. It didnt have that much flavor :( The seafood tasted pretty good. I only ate about 1/2 of it. I figured I would take it home. So i told the guy to wrap it up for me...and he didnt. I asked the waitress for it and they whipped up a new batch for me. I hope they didnt mind,...afterall it was $20.00 If they were gonna charge me for it, why not take the rest home? On a good note, I did leave my phone in the bathroom and found it even after I left the restaurant. Good ol' bay ridge :) Would I come back? Probably. With 3 people max lol.

In the mood for some good mussels with amazing flavor?!?! Then you should try this place, I came across it when I was searching for a seafood spot not to far from home. After reading the reviews and viewing the pics I definitely had to visit! My fiancé had the half rack of ribs which was super tender and amazing flavor and the serving was huge, as for myself a seafood lover I had a half dozen of raw top neck clams which were super fresh and the bisque mussels which had lobster and sauce was super delicious!!! I am definitely going back to try other mussel dishes!!! Just one more thing the servers were extremely nice and on point so that is a major bonus for me!!!

More like 3.5stars Really good place for groups in the back and very kid friendly - just watch your kids and don't have them run around with all the hot mussel pots coming out of the kitchen. If you are looking for quieter adult seating-sit in the front of the house On to the food: -Grilled octopus was good but small portioned - I can eat the whole thing myself as an app -Seafood paella was raved about by other reviewers but I thought it was average -waitress recommended mussels Valencia and mussels bisque as her preferences in ordered. Both are creamier broth base with lobster chunks. Table liked the bisque the best as it was the tastier one and really was like a runnier lobster bisque base. I would recommended ordering the mussels as appetizer and ordering other entrees if you have a bigger appetite. PS - there is no room to diaper change in the bathroom. Bathrooms for men and women are adjoined but separated by plywood. No boy talk in the bathrooms :)

My boyfriend and I absolutely love the mussels at this place. FOOD: If you want mussels done right then I highly recommend this place. I love seafood and am picky about how my mussels are cooked. This place has yet to disappoint (we've dined in and ordered take out during the week and weekend). Even my boyfriend who isn't big on seafood gets excited about trying a new mussels dish. Now that we've tried all of them, I will say that the high price point dishes, with lobster, are worth a try and can be shared if you have some appetizers. Appetizers: Nothing really stand out, but Buffalo Wings, Calamari, Sweet Potato Fries are all good options. Main Course: Mussels, Mussels, Mussels. We stopped trying the other stuff of the menu, albeit good, the mussels are AMAZING! Fra Diavolo Mussels are a great option if you are unsure/experimenting (that's how I got my boyfriend hooked). Valencia Mussels and Bisque Mussels are our favs. Drinks: Alcoholic beverages, mixed drinks, are no better or worse than expected. That being said they have a good selection of draft beer. Desserts: Nothing to write home about, but I may be biased since I'm usually pretty full at this point. PORTIONS: Generous (especially for seafood) SERVICE: Early in the week (mon, tues, wed) is when we've gotten best service and most undivided attention. Although we have no complaints about service this place does get packed on weekends especially in the summer so other may not be as pleased. THE SPACE: As other Yelp reviews have pointed out the restaurant is divided in two, with the bar at the front of the restaurant and the dining room in the rear. In order to get the dining room there is a short hallway past the bar. As I mentioned above in the warmer weather there is also outdoor dining, which was pet friendly. PRICE: Moderately priced, but worth every penny. **PET FRIENDLINESS: Yes!! In our experience, the outdoor dining, is pet friendly. Our Shichon has spent many summer evenings sitting table-side.

recently i came here for a late dinner after a massage nearby. the mussels were tasty but the meat was so small it was pathetic. it was so tiny and all of them too! we also tried the burger which was made just fine but i couldn't help but feel like the meat was not fresh as there was a certain stench to the burger. first time i couldn't really finish my dinner. the place is a cute restaurant overall but too bad the food failed me.

they have a pretty large menu for mussels. we had the mushroom one and their original. the original was better but excited to try others! thank god it came with warm crusty bread for dipping (olive bread, i believe) their paella is delicious! wish it had clams in it, but mussels will do. their fish and chips are good too! bar in front, seating area in back. nice vibe and friendly service. price is reasonable!

Absolutely great food. A bar/restaurant feel, more toward a restaurant. You order a whole pot of seafood. Dishes are big and tasty. Prices are reasonable and worth the quality/quantity.

4 stars on Yelp in Bay Ridge. How convenient? My wife, baby and I went here for Mother's day. They were busy but got us outdoor seating almost immediately with a high chair for our toddler. Unfortunately, it goes down hill from there. We ordered the grilled octopus, zucchini sticks and Maine mussels. The grilled octopus came out with one small leg and then this 1/4 piece...like it broke off and they just threw it on there; very tiny portion for the price. We later see that another table's grilled octopus dish had two full legs. The zucchini sticks were definitely not home-made and reminded me of the mozzarella sticks from Costco. But wait here comes the "amazing" part...the mussels. THEY NEVER CAME...I think they might have given them to the table behind us and 20 minutes later, 2 waiters came and took it back from them. They then paraded around the restaurant with it, looking at other tables, before taking it back inside. 10 minutes later our waiter comes out with "our mussels" and when I told him that If those were the mussels that came out 30minutes ago and was served to the other couple, I don't want it, he rapidly retreated with the dish. THEY REALLY TRIED TO SERVE US THAT!!! 30 mins after it was prepared and served to someone else. It gets even better, we tried to order another dish. Something simple, a pasta. 30 minutes later, we inquired about the dish and they basically said that the order wasn't even started because it was put in at the same time as a larger group. Wow! That's how they take care of a previous foul!?!?! The sick part is that the guy in charge was completely aware of the whole situation because the waiters were talking to him and he would look over but never bother to come apologize or ask if there was anything he could do. Sure, these things happen but every respectable place I've been to would always try very hard to make it right and management always get involved. NOT here. Horrible, HORRIBLE! We were there for about 2hrs with a baby and all we ended up eating were 2 mediocre appetizers (Oh, and they came to refill our water once after it was empty for 1+ hrs). They screwed up, the waiters offer up a meek apology, and management doesn't make the slightest attempt to make it right. I would never ever come back here again and would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Love the casual decor and it's close to home. Delicious fresh seafood and it not over priced. I've tried a number of their mussel variations and I have no complaints. This list is long so I plan to continue my try at them all. My favorite dish is the stuff salmon. The portions are large so come with an appetite. Great for large casual group and it even has a dining room in the back for fancier feel. You can also dine outside but I love to sit at the bar.

I really like the outdoor seating and bar at the front of the house. It makes it look very open and spacious. Most of the seating is at the back of the restaurant where there is also an open kitchen. We only ordered the seafood, which is what it's known for: classic and fria diavolo (tomatoe flavor/sauce) mussels, baked clams, mussle paella and a shrimp and avocado wrap. Baked clams were my favorite and the dishes with the most flavor were fria diavolo mussle and mussle paella. We also had dessert, but I think they need to work on those. I have a sweet tooth, so take what you will. The German chocolate cake and tiramisu were pretty bland. Overall, the meal was good and I am looking forward to my next visit.

I really don't know how this place has the ratings it has. My experience was less than mediocre from the service we received to the food. To start our meal, we ordered the seafood salad. We were expecting a classic seafood salad - a mix of seafood with a lemon vinaigrette, some celery and some onions. Instead we got seafood over mixed greens. It would have been great had it not have been for the dressing. It was very tart and a heavy hand with the oregano. We were only able to eat so much before those flavors became too overwhelming. We also ordered fried oysters. They looked to promising when they came to our table! They were fried and served on a half shell. But then we ate them. The batter was incredibly thick and totally flavorless. We wound up peeling off the batter and just ate the oyster. Total waste. For our entree we ordered the mussels in the bisque broth that was cooked with lobster, brandy, tomato, garlic, cream. Sound delicious right?? It was just ok. And salty. And the small amount of lobster that was in there was extremely overbooked and tasted like rubber. Likely never to go back there again...

I came here today with my husband and baby (see his review -Winston W.). Totally ruined mother's day for me. They gave our entree to another table. We ordered another one that never came. By the way, the women's restroom was horrible. One toilet was about to overflow. The trash was overflowing too. Paper towels everywhere. Clearly they cannot handle huge crowds. I came with a baby and we sat more than a hour and a half after ordering with no main course in sight. And no one seemed to care.

We called at 6 for an 8.00pm reservation when we got there they didn't have our information so we waited at the bar for 20mins. Strike 1! - I have a coors light on tap beer was Luke warm strike 2! - I used the ladies room pretty gross paper everywhere strike 3! - then the food........pretty average paella Ike maybe a 4 out of 10. Skirt steak looked great but had an overpowering spicy sauce maybe like soy & wasabi ruined the steak I couldn't even taste the meat again 4 out of 10 I won't be back.

Came here with my bf at a chilly night because we wanted to have some seafood and marked this on Yelp. The ambiance was good and quite. We ordered classic mussels, fried oysters, angel hair and tiramisu. It was a little bit too much for two people. But all dishes were tasty. Will come back and try other dishes later.

My girlfriend had looked up this place on yelp and really wanted to try it. I passed it by it last week and it looked jammed-packed. We decided to go the following week along with my cousin and a friend. Fortunately, my cousin had come here before and informed me there were 2 dining areas indoors - one was in the back with tables and chairs (with seat-backs) and the front was a bar area with high tables and stools. The food was great - we had 4 mussel dishes served in Valencia, Italiano, bisque, and Thai sauces. My cousin said to make sure you keep the bread for the sauces cause that's when you savor it the most. My girlfriend tried out the seafood paella and that was delicious but be warned as it has sausage in it. All in all, it was a great meal, the wait-staff was friendly and even came by to fix the table from rocking (without us saying anything). I would definitely come here again when I get a chance.

I've only been here once. But in my One experience, I'd recommend to ONLY order the mussels. All the other entrees that we tried were good as well but I enjoyed the mussels the best. We got the pesto. The mussel soup was so good, I poured some into a cup and just drank the soup. Then, I got the bread they serve and dipped the bread in the soup... Yummmm... =) The appetizers we got were the octopus legs (1 order is 2 pieces) and the sweet potato fries. It was my first time to have "fat" potato fries. But I liked them because of their "meaty-ness" and the "crunchiness" For the entrees I had the swordfish with asparagus and risotto. The asparagus had parmasean cheese sprinkled over it but it was overwhelming and took over the taste in my mouth. The fish was just ok and on the dry side. But the risotto was a thumbs up! The entree I wish I got was the scallops with risotto. The sauce on the scallops makes it a bit salty, but if you eat it with the risotto, the saltiness goes away. Anyway, just have the mussels...they give you a big serving and you will be satisfied.

This place was a pleasant surprise. Food was good. Ordered the mussels and paella. I personally didn't enjoy the paella the first night, but I'm a little spoiled by mom's home cooking. Should be noted that there isn't a hostess at all. I saw a couple stand around for 15-20 minutes before they gave up and just left. I simply walked to the back and let one of the waiters know that I had a reservation. We were seated in no time. Atmosphere was really nice, the lighting was dim and their open kitchen made the place smell wonderful.

The name says it all! This great restaurant serves delicious seafood and more. We were there Saturday night, table of four. We started with cocktails at the bar and were lead to our table in no time. First, our appetizers; baked clams were good, fried zucchini was better, grilled octopus was out standing! My entree was mussels in a lobster bisque and it was delicious. We never had a bad meal here. I would definitely recommend this place.

Awesome place, I keep coming back to this place for the excellent food and exceptional service. The waiters are professional something rare in NY :-) The seafood plates are very tasty, try the seafood salad very satisfying and healthy, you feel energized after eating it. And the sweet patatos fries are to die for: I strongly believe they are some of the best in NYC maybe the very best.... Great gem in Bay Ridge, highly recommended

I really underestimated this place. The menu in the restaurant seems to be more appealing and have more choices then the menu online. I ordered the shrimp scampi with linguine and although the sauce seemed heavy and creamy, it turned out to be really good. I would definitely order again. We also ordered the thin crust pizza with sausage, they did skimp a little on the toppings but overall it was good. Grilled octopus was also really good and cooked perfectly. I'd come back for sure.

Desperate to find a venue that supported a large party of 8 for a make up Thanksgiving dinner on a saturday night, our family is spread out over Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn, and last night was a wonderful family reunion for us. First up the service, top notch, attentive, considerate, wasn't phased by the 2 kids, something I highly appreciated. The wait was not bad at all and there is plenty of space in the restaurant. The large bar area in the entrance room was nice an cozy and the early christmas declarations was warm and welcoming, my brother in law was able to snap some beautiful pictures with the whole family near the candle lit pseudo christmas tree. The bar area was a good place to catch a game or just sit, it was family friendly and clean. There were tables in that area where diners can sit at a 6 person table without a long wait. The indoor room was a cozy dining room with small, medium, and large tables. We saw many couples having dinner there and the lighting was very intimate. Our large table had just the right amount of space to chow down on some seafood. We ordered the Lobster Bisque Mussels and the Maine Lobster Mussels which should feed 4 people. The Bisque was a rich, herby and flavorful broth that works into the mussels very nicely, the broth is so rich that it would be great to dip into bread or mix with pasta. The Maine Lobster had nice pieces of lobster chunks inside and the broth was milder but unique and velvety. We ordered a dozen raw clams and it was fresh and had a nice meaty texture, much fresher than raw clams I've had in the past. The dozen raw oysters were larger blue points and nice. The half rack of ribs just fell off the bone and was done perfectly. All in all, quality service and a great experience, highly recommended.

This place is absolutely amazing for it's price. It's nearby the Alpine cinema so I like to come here after watching a movie. Only came her for lunch about 4-5 times and the seating area is usually empty so it's pretty nice and relaxing. When you enter, it's a bar but when you walk further back it's a large seating area with big windows! Kitchen in the back also very nice. I like this place because it's clean and spacious :) Service is VERY nice, some waiters may be better than others. Me and my friends usually just order a bucket of mussels and we ask to split the pasta. They aren't stingy and will give you two medium sized plates of pasta for the price of one; otherwise it would be too much for us to finish if we ordered separately. We end up paying around 20-25 each and very full. You can order as much bread as you want and use it to dip with sauce or the soup from the mussels, very good and filling. ;)

I love this place!!! First of all, there's nothing better than mussels. Don't even think about changing my mind! Mussels and More is (obvi) mussel heaven! Our waitress was very polite and was able to quickly pick up on the fact that my date and I were having a very deep, private conversation. She had just the right amount of attentiveness. She didnt bug us our make us feel pressured to hurry up and eat. I really appreciate that. There are so many mussel options to chose from. It was a very tough decision., but the fungi mussels were amazing! There were bits of bacon in the broth...need I say more? The unlimited basket of bread gets a gold star in my book, too! I also had the seafood salad which was overflowing with calamari, shrimp and more mussels along with a very generous portion of avocado. I was very pleased. Overall, this place is reasonably priced, great location and delicious food.

Atmosphere is nice and the staff is really friendly. They seemed short staffed the second time I came here so it took longer to get water refills but I didn't mind because I could tell they were working their butts off. I love the food here. The valencia mussels and baked clams are good. I think the thai mussels did not have enough coconut milk flavor and there was another type of mussels I tried which was too spicy, I can't remember which one. I'd recommend staying away from the stuffed salmon because it just looked like a weird dish. It tasted OK but I would recommend getting the sea bass or skirt steak instead. I had the paella and it wasn't what I expected. It was more like seafood mixed with rice instead of having been cooked with the rice. It was still tasty so I didn't mind. The only thing I don't like about this place is the free bread and the tomato sauce they give you. I don't like the bread and I don't like that sauce that comes with it. Sure, it's free so who cares right? But usually when I first sit down at a restaurant, good bread and butter/olive oil makes a big a difference in my outlook of the meal.

MM is a great place to eat! We tried a bit of everything, 2 different mussel boils and a pasta! My favorite would have to be the mussels in lobster bisque! Wouldn't recommend to anyone with a seafood allergy though as Just about everything is served with mussels.

Service was great, prices are different compared to the website. Food was okay... Had the Buffalo chickenwings which were standard (pizza place standard) the linguine with white clam sauce... which I thought was lacking in salt and 2 mussle dishes.. Everything just tasted fine.. nothing extraordinary

My in laws, who are Brooklyn natives, swear by this place and I agree. I've always loved mussels. I've also always loved a good mussel sauce more. Here they know how to do both to perfection. We ordered four different kinds of sauce and I had to keep myself from drinking from the community bowls. I wish I had ordered my own so I could have my own trough, but alas that would have been crude. I was scheming to get one of the sauces to myself and figuring out how I could drink it in the alley way... However, they have a long standing plan of taking all of the leftovers sauce and pouring it over pasta and having amazingness all over again. We came with a large party and children and were accommodated well. I would come back every time I was in Brooklyn if I had the time.

In terms of steaming pots of stuff, mussels rank very high on my list, probably in the top 3, so I was very pleased to go to this place to celebrate a friend's birthday. Service was nice, although the waiter had no idea which Sixpoint was on tap. He didn't seem to understand that they make different varieties of beer and when I asked "Sweet Action? Brownstone?" he just stared at me and said "Sixpoint". * Other than that, service was great and the food was very tasty. The bread they served was awesome and we had appetizers of fried clams and grilled calamari, both very good. Loved the grilled calamari in particular. We all got a variety of mussels. Some got the bisque (which I tasted and loved) and others got the Maine (which was also good). I ordered the bruschetta, which was great because I love tomatoes and croutons and lobster. It had a lot of all that in it, plus all the mussels. The only complaint I had was that it was a little bland. It needed some spice to it...maybe some red peppers or something like that. French fries were also very good and excellent for dipping into the mussel broth. I would definitely recommend this place, esp for a nice dinner with a group of friends (we had 7 adults and three kids). __________________________________________ *it was the Brownstone

We really underestimated the size of these pots! Bf and I ordered the grilled octopus, lobster bisque mussels, classic mussels and pesto pasta. Everything was great but mussels were obviously the highlights of the meal. Mussels were really fat and juicy and not overcooked at all. Broth was flavorful. 1 app + 2 mussels are pretty filling for 2 people already, considering you probably won't stop eating the broth with the unlimited bread. Also, if you get the bisque you get huuuge chunks of lobster in the broth as well. Service was perfect. Owner stopped by the table multiple times to ensure we had everything we needed and was super friendly.

I really liked the vibe of this joint! My girlfriend found this place on yelp and suggested to my family to head there. I had the penne alla vodka which was very good and my family loved their seafood. When we first walked in we were just in the bar area with no one insight. Upon continuing in and turning the corner we found the restaurant. I would definitely come back here to try more plates!

These mussels were probably the best food I had while living in NYC. As our time there was winding down my boyfriend and I decided to go. We were out and about and ended up walking about 4 miles to go there and the food was worth every step. It wasn't crowded (it was a weeknight) and we sat at the bar. My boyfriend had the Thai mussels and I had the Fungi. They were incredibly flavorful and if I hadn't been in public I would have stuck my face in the bowl and licked up every bit. The bread was nice also. The service was great, the bartender was funny and helpful and they have bottles in a frozen dispenser so they come out cold. Sadly I didn't make it back again before I moved but when I come back for a visit I;m coming in.

Definitely loved this place! My friends and I decided to come here for dinner and boy, was it a good idea! We had to wait a couple of minutes since we wanted to be seated in the back dining area instead of the bar. A friendly gentleman came over frequently to ask how we were. We were seated pretty soon considering it was a weekend night. The back dining area has a nice dimly-lit ambiance to it. There was a huge selection of items to choose from on the menu aside from the pots of mussels. We decided to order the grilled octopus appetizer, some fried oysters and the Fungi and Mexican mussel pots. They serve bread with olive oil while they prepare your food. The grilled octopus was SO INCREDIBLY TENDER AND JUICY. You MUST MUST order this. The oysters were good, nothing special. Now onto the mussel pots. The Fungi consisted of mushrooms and bacon. Definitely delicious if you love the combo. It was nice and smoky but yet creamy and earthy. The Mexican consists of calamari and chorizo which was definitely one of my faves. It was nicely seasoned and spiced and the combo of seafood and meat was delicious. We scarfed down our food and even wanted to drink all the leftover broth because it was so good (try sopping it up with the bread). Definitely want to come back here again and try the other mussel pots.

I thought the food and service was excellent. Plus - Blue Moon on tap! Yum Starters - Mussels to share. We ordered the Lobster Bisque, which indeed had big chunks of lobster and the broth was to die for. We also ordered the Thai Curry, which I thought was only ok. As for Entrees, we shared... Lobster Ravioli - Wish it had a little bit more filling. Shrimp and Chicken Fettuccine - Tasty, but very filling. Linguine with White Clams - Probably the best I had ever had. Pasta was al dente and clams were perfectly cooked. My favorite dish! Dessert - Very impress with the Strawberry Shortcake. Not too sweet and had tons of strawberries and to top it off it had a chocolate covered strawberry on top. The only negative was the cooling system...it was freezing then it was hot...it was freezing then it was hot.

Great local spot all around For starters, we got a nice table outside at night with no wait for 6 people. The hostess, owner and waitress were all extremely polite and helpful throughout. Everyone at the table agreed it was some of the best service we have had in a long time. Our main waitress and all the waiters who assisted were extremely attentive and came by often for bread and drink refills and plate changes The food was all good and fairly priced. We got the mussels in bisque, huge pot, plenty of mussels, plenty of lobster pieces and nice flavor The calamari were pretty average, but good nonetheless. My fish and chips were also pretty average, but had pretty good flavor and good batter. The shrimp wrap was my favorite of all the food They had a pretty good beer selection, like purple haze on tap (don't see that often) Everyone at our table enjoyed their food and appetizers (seafood pasta, and seabass were the other items my group got), so good experience all around I wouldn't say they have the most amazing seafood but overall this place hits plenty of high notes, and worthy of a revisit

We went here for my mother's birthday and had a very large party of 15 of us. The restaurant was spacious and able to accommodate all of our needs. The service was very good and personable. The food was excellent from the fresh salad to the mussels. They had a large menu and everything we ordered was delicious. Would definitely go back again. The mussels with lobster was the best!

Had dinner here on a Sunday night. Took about 15 minutes to get our menus. Took another 30 minutes before a waitress took our order and she seemed rushed and extremely impatient. Our order of oysters arrived with the ice completely melted, when we pointed this out to the waitress she didn't even apologize but blamed it on the kitchen. She also forgot to put in our order for grilled octopus and when we mentioned that we didn't get it, she seemed annoyed and said that she could put it in if we still wanted it. Three stars because the octopus was amazingly delicious and the rest of the food was pretty good too.

I can only review this as a bar, since I haven't eaten here yet. What I can say is that it is a big bar, takes up the entire length of the front part of the restaurant (apparently there is more seating in the back.) The front has the bar space as well as some tables with high chairs. They don't look comfortable for an intimate dinner, but probably fine for a group of friends. I was here on a Saturday night around 10:30-midnight. Found a space at the bar and was surprised that they had a drink list, including Abita Purple Haze on tap and wine for around $7 a glass. The bartender was on top of things, ready to refill your glass. There are a few (unneccesary) big screen TV's but not enough to yell out 'sports bar.' It was just loud enough, the crowd was more of a 25-30's crowd, but it wasn't enough to justify the long running stream of Donna Summer and other 70's disco, but hey, it's Bay Ridge!

I'm only giving 4 reviews because we ordered for take-out we did not eat inside. Let me just say, DELISH! We ordered the seafood salad which is plenty for 2 people. It was loaded with green, mussels, calamari, shrimp and avocado. It was just perfect. We also ordered the grilled octopus and loved it. I was surprised that for the price it was just the one leg but we split it and along with the salad we were more than happy with our delicious dinner. We can't wait to actually eat in and try other items.

Fancy decor and friendly staff. I came here with some friends for dinner and i had no idea what to order. My friend recommended the lobster bisque mussels and the cajun chicken pasta. So we go that. Then we decided to go with an order of the thai mussels to try. As for appetizers, we settled with calamari and the grilled octopus. As soon as the food got here, we digged it. It was so delicious. The cajun pasta was so flavorful and filling. It wasn't spicy but the perfect amount of spices to satisfy you. The lobster bisque mussels were amazing. We dipped our bread into the soup/ sauce. Perfect combo! The thai mussels were so so. It had more of a milky and creamy texture. Not really my taste. The grilled octopus and calamari were AMAZING.For dessert, we ordered a pistachio gelato, a brownie and a slice of chocolate cake. The perfect ending to an already perfect dinner. I've never had gelato before and i fell in love with in after i had a few scoops. The brownie and cake were good too. Counting the times i said amazing in this review, i would definitely come back again!

I've been to Mussels & More a couple of times after my initial terrible experience. Let me start off by saying the service is hit or miss. Depending on how busy it is, I've had instances where I waited 15-20 minutes just to get menus. If you can look past this or come during off-peak hours, you're in for a treat. For mussels, my gf and I always get the bisque. The pot of mussels arrive at the table swimming in a pool of creamy lobster goodness. At the bottom of the pot, you'll find chunks of lobster that will cause fork duels on who gets the last piece. For pasta, I'd recommend the penne a la vodka. The seasoning and consistency of the sauce is just right and not overwhelmingly creamy. Again, the service could be better but it's hard to not come back when the food is so good.

Great concept, good menu selection, very good service, but should be much better. Food - Calamari were all uniform straight out of a bag, for a seafood place s/b fresh. Lettuce on plate had salad dressing as if taken from big salad bowl, a definite turn off. Taste just OK, portion OK s/b larger. Melted cheese on tomato, just OK s/b presented better w/thicker slice of tomato. Ordered 2 types of mussels, good but nothing to go back for, portions could be slightly larger. Excellent concept for a restauarant but need to get fresh and quality food, better food prep, and better chef.

Marilyn R.: "Let's have something light...what about Mussels & More?" Granted that this conversation happened on a Tuesday night at around 10:15 PM after we both came back from a fashion party the city, I didn't honestly think of mussels as something "light". This place actually changed my frame of mind of late night snacks. Upon entering, the lights were romantically dim, and seating was on high bar chairs and long wooden tables. No matter where you sat, you got a great view of the TVs and fully stock bar to quench your evening thirst in many ways. The wait staff was more awake then we were, and pleasant. We opted to get the soup of the day - a very hearty shrimp minestrone soup. It was savory, light, and just what your mother would have wanted you to have on a cold, damp night. Worth asking them about! For the main event, we shared a pretty decent size pot of mussels in a fra diavolo sauce. So simple, so delicious, so comforting, and so......light! It was really delightful! We were checked on several times throughout the course of the meal, and were pleased; I give them credit for staying open until 11PM every weekday! Damn! No into mussels and other friends of the little mermaid? Have no fear! That's where the "more' comes in! They have salads, sandwiches, bar food, soups, desserts and other dishes you didn't think you'd see here. Best part? This place isn't too painful on the wallet either! Yay for a new local eat!

Unfortunately, this place has gone from great to horrible within my three visits here. First impression left me wanting to come back the same week just to be disappointed and wondering if it was just, perhaps, a bad night. My husband and I ordered a pot of the Mussels Bisque, Oysters on half shell and the Grilled octopus both times. The first time everything was outstanding! Second - the oysters were the size of my foot, the octopus overcooked and the mussels much less in quantity and tiny. Thinking of the first impression and giving the restaurant the benefit of a doubt we came back tonight and what a horrid experience! We ordered oysters again, mussels and lamb chops. Once the oysters arrived I wanted to ask for hot sauce and waited 15 minutes to see A waiter ( not our waiter), later our waiter came with the lamb chops and the mussels. He put the pot of mussels down next to me and procceeded to shove it across the table pushing my utencils, appetizer and plate with some of it almost landing on the floor if I didn't grab it! I wish I had it on video! We then waited another 15 minutes to get a server (not Francisco our server, who was m.i.a. again) to ask for bowls and spoons to eat the mussels and then set around for a long while after we were finished to have the waitress (Annie) take pity on us and bring us a check, run the card and only then did we see Francisco again who came to grab the check of an already finished transaction with absolutely to tip. We did, however, tip Annie who well deserved it! Will never be back!

This place is great! Definitely come and take a taste. A good drink menu, friendly bar staff. The bar is full service too. Parking is a little tough though. I got the New England Clam Chowder. Nice flavor and not too heavy. I'm not a fan of cream soups. I prefer Manhattan Clam Chowder over New England so the fact that I had this enjoyed it says a lot. I had the lobster roll. Nicely cooked, not too tough, nicely seasoned in an aioli type dressing. The bread was nicely toasted. I would have given this 5-stars but I had to knock it down 1 because the bread was a little too oily for me (they toasted using way too much butter) and made the bread a little bit soggy. Check this place out!

Came here for lunch with friend who comes often with the family. They have a rather large menu of options for sea and land lovers. Their mussel selectin definitely is a gem. They are very creative when it comes to that. Their menu inspiration includes Greek, Italian and Mediterranean influences. We tried the saganaki which is done very differently here over a bed of tomato sauce and quite tasty. Also had their grilled octopus which was tender and delicious. And also had bisque mussels, classic mussels and paella. All attendees were satisfied with their respective choices. They offer a nice ciabatta type bread that is good for dipping into the broths. And also offer wine list as well. Well worth the visit and patronage!

Seriously I'm amazed by the delicious food served here. I wasn't expecting much when I came here on a Sunday for brunch. They were playing the football game so we decided to waltz in. The menu was expansive, the staff was friendly and attentive. Ordered the dijon mussels, pizza, and penne pesto shrimp pasta. I was hoping the food was average at best. After all, it was empty, I've never been here, and on an empty block. The mussels were outstanding. Tangy broth, but not too mustard-like. I was dipping the bread in it and pretty much drinking the broth like soup. It tasted phenomenal. I wish the portion was a bit larger for the mussels, I definetly could have ate two orders of this. The pizza was great. We ordered it with onions, and the marinara sauce on it was sweet. The crust was thin & crunchy. Perfectly sized for two people to share. Now the PASTA, holy.....it was simply OUTSTANDING. It was penne pesto with shrimp. The pesto was CREAMY, with lots of garlic bits, amazing with the parm cheese. The pasta was cooked perfectly and soft, there was A LOT of shrimp. But seriously the best pesto I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. Not too greasy like most pesto. CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK HERE.

Sad to have to give this place such a bad review. The staff was very nice but the service and food was not good at all. In fact, I'm still here at the restaurant as I write this. When we walked in we were told it was a 20 minute wait, so we sat at the bar and decided to have drinks and apps while we waited. It was clear the bartender wasn't comfortable behind the bar and didn't really know what he was doing but we figured maybe he was subbing for the night. He gave my friend a very dirty beer glass, the whole rim was covered with lip marks- we figured ick but whatever, I guess it happens. We put in an order for oysters- there were 4 to choose from, we ordered 3 of each (1 dozen) and the bartender put in an order for 1 that wasn't on the menu, luckily one of the servers caught the error before they oysters came out. The octupus that the bartender said was amazing wasn't good...very rubbery and a very oily dip to go along with it. The oysters were actually good. About 30 minutes later, we still didn't know the status of our table. Someone who we thought may have been the manager or the owner said he'd check on it but never got back to us. Finally, we're seated and wait another 30 minutes for our food. They had a big party in the back but it was clear that the floor was not being managed properly. The owner/manager was breathing down the servers necks instead of pitching in. The bread was actually terrible :( For a place in Brooklyn with tons of great bakeries, the bread literally tasted like it was from a crummy supermarket. The mussels finally came and were as lackluster as everything else. I had the Little Neck and it had a lot of bacon...90% of which was fat, and tons of basil that was very brown. I was really looking forward to a nice mussels place in Brooklyn but this place needs work for sure...especially since my favorite restaurant in nyc is Flex Mussels, which puts this place to shame. Oh and to top it all off, it was very pricey (which normally I'm fine with as long as the food/service is good!) I won't be returning. Sorry!

Food was awesome, we went twice and both times ordered something different and everything rocks. the lobster bisque mussels are the best mussels I have ever had, their chicken quasadia is also pretty good, the ambience is very nice and service was good. For sure will go again.

Came here with a large group (20+) for a friends birthday and service was amazing. For such a large group, our server was so on point with all our orders and got everything we needed. For the food, I got the pesto pasta (forgot the actual name) and it was delicious. It was so saucy and filling. My friends around me got the thai, bombay and the classic mussels. The bombay was my personal favorite. Im kind of disappointed that when you order mussels, it doesnt come with any sides.. but they do give you endless bread that you can dip into the broth. I just feel that its missing some kind of side. The bread itself taste cold and old.. but for one of the rounds of bread it came toasted so maybe you would have the request it. All in all, the food is great and service was wonderful. I will be coming back.

Ok. Your not going to believe this. After several visits we befriended the host/manager. Maybe even the owner. On this particular evening he waited in us As i had previously done. I ordered the seafood paella with extra scallops in leui of shrimp due to my allergy I was served a bowl of rice with 3-5 mussels. Obviously a mistake. So after paitently waiting for the " owner/ waiter/host or asshole as i call him. I mentioned that there were no scallops in the pallela He said" ohhh. Haha. Were put of scallops". And when i promptly asked for the bill he attempted to charge me full price for my entree. I think you get the idea. I hope he doesn't quit his day job. Thus guys a schmuck and his place gas great potential. Im certain he'll realize this when the next owner re-opens the place

I came here because my friend recommended it. This place has hands down the worst service in Bay Ridge. To add to the horrible service the food was really not all that good. When a friend asked for a mixed drink, the server just said "no". In addition we had three servers and none of them could figure out what the other was doing or if anyone was helping. If you asked for something they would simply just not return with it. I had the fish and chips. It would have been better if I had ever gotten the malt vinegar I requested. Sorry but I disagree with all the hype. Thanks for reading.

Wow. This place has great friendly service and awesome seafood. Mussels fra Diavlo were the best ever. Angle hair seafood pasta dish was equally as great. Nice tap beer & good wine selection.

Great corner restaurant in bay ridge. Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Main room is Mostly a bar and there are about 17 tables outside and a back dinning area as well. Lots of great beers on tap and was ver impressed with the selection for a seafood place. Service: Service is good and the waiter is friendly and talkative. Although we did not sit at the bar, I did see some people sitting on their own and there was no communication from the bar man. I tend to frown on that as I feel if I was alone at a bar in a restaurant in the afternoon, some light conversation would be nice. But that's not me. Food: this chief knows a good dish. We had a bowl of salmon chowder 8/10, mussels in a tomato sauce 8/10 and the grilled octopus 9/10. The octopus was really amazing. Tender and flavorful, but $15 for just one leg, really? I know quality food is expensive and I'm not one to complaint but, I am sure you can add one more or maybe make is $10-12. It's pricy for lunch but a great meal. I think this place should consider a lighter lunch menu as this chief really is great. Will try it again for dinner one night to see if this was just a fluke :)

Back again to Mussels & More this past Friday night. Decided to give their dirty martini another try since there was a different bartender and I think I know why I don't like it - they don't use brine! They put water in the olives and use that. Ugh. We sat outside and there was a notable difference. Outside tables are not given the roasted pepper spread for the bread unless you specifically ask for it. Our seafood salads were a bit different too. Need to return again to see if they changed it, was a different chef or what.

I love the setup of this restaurant. We sat in one of the high tables across from the bar and had a wonderful dining experience. We had martinis and: 1. Beef Sliders with Fries - Could be better jucier, but still tasty 2. Lobster Bisque Mussels - This was really good, highly recommend it!

I went with my girlfriend and her sister's family. The place looked nice, but it leaves a lot to be desired. There was no greeter at the door, and the bartender had no interest in directing anyone to a seat. Now for the food. I had the fish and chips, my girlfriend and her sister shared a mussels dish, and her sister's husband had the nachos. The fish and chips were badly prepared. The fish was soft in texture but somehow flaky and falling apart....weird and not tasty. The French fries looked good but had a weird taste, and I wondered how hard is it to mess up French fries. The mussels my GF had were swimming in a huge amount of broth. The calamari included in the broth were overcooked, and the mussel meat was tiny. Her sister's husband had a plate of nachos that seemed pretty small, for a delicacy that most restaurants usually give a big serving of. His comments included "that's it", "why is the cheese already hard ?", and "this cheese must be industrial strength". The piece de resistance was when a small protest rally, outside by some Egyptian people protesting police brutality in EGYPT, drew racist remarks from one bar patron and the same idiot bartender that didn't look our way, earlier. I guess people can't peacefully protest without comments like "go back to your own country." Mussels and More needs a LOT more to be considered a good restaurant. I don't see where the four star rating came from.

I remember this spot when it was Cantina. It's much better now. For Bay Ridge, Brooklyn I give it a 4. Otherwise it's a solid 3. I had the scallops which were pretty good though drenched in sauce. You get a lot of food for the price. The service is very good as well. Decent beer selection.

We were seared in the back dining area. Pretty busy for a Thursday night. Service was average but the menu was impressive. They offered a nice selection of mussels and more! There's pasta, meat, fish and many appetizers to choose from. We had the mussels in white wine sauce. Very simple and nice. The pork chops were thick and juicy. Seasoned to perfection. The linguini with white clam sauce was also spot on. Service was average but acceptable since it was so busy. Would definitely be back to try other things.

I really like the atmosphere! Out door seating is a huge plus when it is nice weather! Fairly priced drinks! It was definitely the waitress first time EVER being a waitress, but she was really trying hard and gets an A for effort. Food was average, nothing special. Bathroom was really really weird!!!!

This place took a few months to catch on; and I admit that honestly I did not ever think it would take off. I mean, mussels are not exactly a typical food craved by Bay Ridge residents. I figured a 'backlash' against 'snooty French food' would kill this restaurant. The owner also went against tradition in NOT choosing the typical dark-wood, pub-style trappings which dominate around here; and Bay Ridgers are really averse to change of any kind. But that is not what happened. The place did not die. Instead, its booming; its one of the best new restaurants in the area; and often thronged with patrons. Two reasons drive this: (1) the menu has a lot more than just mussels; and (2) the mussels themselves are fantastic. All the menu items are decently done; there's nothing to complain about--but the mussels are really something special. There is also: genuinely attentive, energetic service. A mixture of veteran waitstaff and young stuff in training; everyone has proper friendly attitude and no cellphone abuse. Even if you order just one beer; you are taken care of. The owner is almost always on hand to introduce himself and oversee quality; you can tell this restaurant is 'his baby' and he dotes on it. I like the tiny details present here (as almost nowhere else in the neighborhood) for instance, a plate of oil/bread while you wait for your entree. Prices are generally easy-going; and its just a fun, upbeat and clean environment. The bar has very choice wines and a wicked cool ice-luge for its vodkas. Live bands on occasion. Weekend nights see quite an attractive, well-dressed 30-ish crowd here. Its something of a local hotspot now--besides the cuisine. There's outdoor seating and --what is less apparent to the eye--a gigantic dining room in the rear behind the bar area up front. It is definitely something different than what people are used to; but the management is honestly striving to do a good job. We should support this place and hope it sticks around!

Solid place. Great Linguini I visited this place a couple of times during the colder months. The staff and bartenders were really great. The owner and host (Jim) was really friendly and personable. The food really surprised me as being very flavorful and tasty. Including the fish dishes, the linguini in a spicy marinara sauce and the fried calamari is excellent! Nice addition to the neighborhood, replacing the old mexican cantina restaurant that used to be on this corner. Great place.

We live a few blocks away from Mussels & more and always wanted to go there, last Spring we finally went with our two kids and I felt in love with their food. The mussels were sooo good, my kids have pizza and I had a seafood salad, so fresh and just perfect! Everything was awsome! Well the waitress was a bit forgetful, but overall, the place is great!!

Drove by with a friend while looking for a place to eat while back home visiting when we drove by this place. Pulled up reviews which basically said "great food terrible service" and decided to take a chance. Since it was a Saturday night, no tables were available so we sat at the bar. There was only one person working the bar when we got there so he was responsible for all drink orders as well as taking our food orders. We got our drink orders taken pretty quickly and they make a pretty mean martini. It took some time to place our food order and when our appetizer came out we did not get any silver wear. With that aside, the calamari was amazing. We also ordered mussels to share and both wanted to stick our heads in the bucket it was so good. It comes with foccacia, but I would have preferred a crustier bread but that's just a preference thing. They don't make desserts in house but bring them in from Little Italy. All in all A+ for food and C for service. I'd still definitely go back next time I'm i town.

I live in Bay Ridge so I decided to bring my mom and brother to try out this place. When you first walk in, you see a bar and a couple of high tables but the restaurant is located in the back. We came here on a week night but it was pretty packed and had a good crowd. The bathroom was also interesting - 4 stalls (unisex). Food - we decided on two appetizers: crab cakes and grilled octopus. Both were tasty but neither stood out to me. We also got a dozen of raw clams (top rock, i believe) and those were big and juicy as well. As for the mussels, we got two pots to share: basil pesto and italiano. The pesto came with shrimp that was a little over cooked but the sauce was very good - especially if you decide to dip the bread in it. The mussels for both of the pots were tiny and not very plump (I've definitely had better). The italiano had calamari but and was a bit lighter than the pesto. Staff - friendly The only problem I really had with place was that the food took a REALLY long time. You have a full view of the kitchen and every time you looked over, you would wish that the next plate of food was yours. Even the raw clams took longer than expected, I mean come on - no cooking involved! There aren't that many great restaurants in bay ridge so I would say that this place is definitely worth a try

I've been here about 6 or 7 times for dinner. Drinks are best bet. Nice big bar. Clean. Sit at the bar or high tables in front and stick to finger food. The food, overall, is unspectacular but decent. The sliders are good. But don't come here expecting gourmet. It's kind of like a combination of bar food and mini pizzas and...mussels. I dont like ordering mussels out because they are so inexpensive to buy...all the effort goes into washing the sand off them. The one time I ordered mussels there- with andouille sausage as per the menu - they forgot the sausage and neither the waitress nor the chef knew what it was.

I just returned from a very disappointing meal at Mussels and More. We made a reservation a day ahead and were NOT told that a very very loud band would be playing at the bar area in front of the restaurant, with no separation from the rear seating area. We were totally unable to have a conversation, and it was even difficult for the waiter to hear our order. The waiter, at 7:45 told us that the band would be done at 8:00, but at 8:30 we left and the loud music played on. The 3 mussel dishes we had for appetizers were delicious, but there were over 10 unopened mussels in the 3 pots, quite unprofessional for a restaurant so named. The service, though friendly, was sloppy and altogether not proper for a fairly expensive eatery. We were truly unable to enjoy our main courses at this point, and certainly had no desire to linger for coffee and desserts. I spoke to the manager "Jim" about the noise from the band and he said, "I agree with you, It is much too loud.He made it clear that it was not in his control. mmm EXCUSES !!! As for the unopened mussels, he reminded me that he did send us another pot of mussels as a replacement..There were more unopened mussels in tis serving. A kitchen named for and specializing in one food item should certainly make every effort to serve them properly. Jim said that mussels were between seasons and out of his control.Again, EXCUSES !!! Six dinners, $450.00 later, and our whole group agrees that this restaurant will never see us again.

After much hair pulling, whining and "What's so great about mussels?" I was finally dragged here. I'm not much of a sea-foodie and after a letdown at Littleneck, I wasn't ready to jump on Captain Long John Silver's boat again. ARRRRRR But, there we were and after the octopus, salad, lobster bisque and spicy linguini--we were as stuffed as puffer fish. This place made me fall in love with seafood all over again. A definite win! I'm hooked!

I am noticing that not only the size of the mussels, but the quantity of mussels you get with your order is shrinking. Best dish on the menu is the grilled octopus. Always tender with beautifully grilled flavor that doesn't take from the natural sweetness of the octopus.

I'm glad that Mussels and More has replaced Canteena. The atmosphere is much classier and the food is fantastic. The wait staff is pleasant and helpful---I never felt neglected. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. I had both the classic and South Asian. Compliments to the chef! Will definitely return--glad to have a great seafood place in the area. P.S. Try the Chocolate Truffle Cake...OUT of this world.

Wait! I am writing to Yelpers so that people are not so quick to judge first impressions, as that is not always a reflection of the overall restaurant. So I hope my recount will be a good example for others to be more understanding, patient, and ultimately satisfied with their experience. I had a slight hiccup in the beginning because it was VERY busy. The manager/owner was literally waiting tables himself. He did tell me to wait a few times because I made a reservation (figured there is no reason to wait?) So that was odd. Then I did not like the high chairs in the front nor did I want to sit outside (chilly night). So I thought to myself, why don't my party and I just find another restaurant. But I then I had a second thought that maybe I should not give up so easily. What if I passed on a wonderful restaurant? So I thought maybe it was just really busy for a Friday night...and that I should be a little patient. So i approached the owner one last time and said hey listen, I do not want to sit outside, especially if I have a baby with me and all that. Plus the high chairs is not going to work for us. He was like, OOOOH NO, you are definitely sitting inside and we are setting up the tables for you. AND I HAD NO IDEA that there were additional seating in the back (not obvious at all). ahhahah! So at that moment our tables were ready and will not regret not giving up on this place due to first impressions. Yippity! As a matter fact, a week later - made reservations to this place again. This time around, MORE people followed me! Yes! The mussels, obviously, are the staples. But I always set out for more. I had the seafood diavolo and boy was the sauce fresh and sweet. It had wine in it so it was really cooked to perfection. Salad was also fresh (once again, at a busy restaurant with very concentrated areas like mussels and the idea that they did not compromise details like their salad, is truly a great characteristic!) The wait staff was VERY attentive, at least my waiter. It was busy but my personal male waiter memorized our dishes and remembered a few things that I had initially asked for. Like the bread has to be warm (because the first batch wasn't)...an hour and half later, he remembered to warm up the next few batches - WOW! Then I specifically asked for some stuff to remove certain seasonings (as a personal request) - and when the dish came out, the waiter made sure that I tried my first bite and to acknowledge that it was ok. VERY COOL!!!!! Now that's excellent wait service for you! Some 10 star restaurants might not have waiters that sincere. .. The bathrooms are a bit tight, though. :(

Thursday night bartender knows what he's doing. Best old fashioned I've ever had in Bay Ridge. Little disappointed they're running out of liquor this early(godiva). Still not a fan of the food, but the drinks and the set up in front is nice. The owner is a nice guy that says hi to everybody and stays on hand. If you like seafood this a great place, if you just wanna grab a drink, it's pretty decent too.

After weeks of strolling past Mussels & More and admiring the decent size bar and outdoor seating, my sister treated me here during her visit to Brooklyn. For an appetizer, we ordered the crab cakes, which tasted more "natural" than all other crab cakes that I have had, meaning they were stuffed full of crab, breaded, but not greasy. My sister had the pesto mussels, and I had the bruschetta mussels with lobster. OH MY WORD...these dishes were delicious. I would go back and order the exact same thing. We went for lunch, so it was empty, but I walk past here a lot and it always seems pretty busy happy hour and later. The bar, which is separate from the dining room is big, with what looks like nice amount of beers on tap. The outdoor area is right out on the sidewalk is also really nice, and seems to be the perfect place to sit on warm summer nights, eating mussels and catching all the activity on 5th Ave.

I had to give Mussels & More 4 stars because I think their food is really good, and that's what matters most, but I really would like to give a 3.5 since the service was not great when we went for dinner this past weekend. They were really busy but c'mon Mussels you gotta get it together for the warmer weather! There are going to be big crowds and dinner time rushes, and I think they need to be better prepared. Definitely could have used an extra server that night. The first server that came up to our table outside seemed very frazzled and I told her we were ready to order and she said okay, took out a pen and then looked away and said be right back as she hurried away..hmm..then a guy came for our order and he was much better and very nice, but still it was hard to get a hold of him or the other server. Other patrons at the table next to us were complaining as well, saying that they were waiting forever for extra napkins. We only ordered seafood salad and 2 pots mussels and this took way too long. that is the easiest, fasting thing to make. I understood they were busy though and had a lot of tickets, still took a longggg time...I think the kitchen needs to learn how to push out orders faster. Took about 40 minutes to get our salad. speaking of the seafood salad, it was very good but NOT worth $19! It was just mixed greens with about 1/2 sliced avocado, some shrimps and calamari and mussels, that stuff is cheap! wasn't even that much of the seafood, at least fill it up for the almost $20 that I'm paying.... So that's it, the service was mediocre...we also asked for more bread while eating our mussels and asked one of the servers (not the good one) and she said sure of course and then she never came back, so then I had to hunt down the guy that was actually our server, and he got us the bread.... also wish they still had the whole wheat option for bread =( Mussels were yummy though, we got the Fra Diavlo and Dijon, MmmMmm. we will be back for more delish food but just hope they get their service together for the summer, they are going to be packed on weekends! great bar too!

Went here yesterday with my husband and son for lunch and we were very impresssed. The service was great, very friendly and the food was amazing. We were lucky to get the $1/oyster special and honestly the oysters were just as good as our favorite oyster place in Manhattan (Aquagrill). We also had the Spartan mussels, which were delicious, and the seafood paella - again, some of the best I've had. The crabcakes were so-so (fried and had some filler - but I'm from Maryland and a little picky:) But otherwise our experience was great and if we are ever in Bay Ridge again I would definitely go back!!

Unbelievably delicious!!! This restaurant has a great vibe and awesome decor. I came here with my hubby and another couple. We had drinks, a dozen oysters, baked clams, Thai mussels, two orders of lobster bisque mussels, scallops, and side orders of the mac and cheese and risotto. Everything was so tasty. The seafood was so fresh and the oysters were absolutely wonderful. Outdoor seating, a nice open kitchen, friendly bartenders, and awesome service. One star off because even though we shared 2 apps, 4 entrees, and about 2 drinks per person, I still think the bill was astronomical and this place has to be an occasional treat. With that said, I can't wait to save my pennies and go back!

this place has the potential to be so great! they have a huge assortment of mussels. mussels in lobster bisque, mussels in sausage and onion broth, mussels in red sauce, wine sauce, so many!! crab cake tasted as if it were either frozen or not fresh. you can taste that alot of the food is frozen or out of a can/jar. if they used fresh ingredient this place would be perfect. the service is alittle off, and everytime i went there, i felt if i didnt order a cocktail, the waitress didnt care about my table for the time we were there. whatever. even the dessert is frozen.

  • Eric F.

Mussels or Less The mussels are enjoyable, the more leaves something to be desired. The vegetable sides seem like frozen just reheated, and the non-seafood selection seems forced. Just pick a few things and do them well! Service is hit and miss, but I suppose that's to be expected in Bay Ridge. For a casual nosh, this is a decent stop, but for all out dinner, it needs more focus on service, side dishes, music and ambiance in general.

Omg!!!! So delicious . Grilled calamari were cooked perfectly. Guacamole was amazing. Mussels bisque were the best I've ever tasted. I could have drank the sauce. Lobster roll ... Perfect! Would have given 5 stars but the crab cake was just eh. A little too fried and not enough lump crab meat. All in all awesome restaurant and I am definitely going back!

This place rules the dining scene in Bay Ridge. My wife and I can't seem to stop going back. The "Classic Mussels" dish and grilled octopus is amazingly delicious. The drinks are awesome and the wait staff is very accommodating and friendly. Our thanks to the owner and welcome to the neighborhood. We needed a nice change from the "same 'ol" "same 'ol." Tired of going to the same old places? Then you've found your new love. We did :-).

Very tasty food, I'm glad I read the Yelp reviews before just stopping by. I made a reservation for 7pm on a Thursday and boy was I glad I did. The place looks a little deceiving, when you walk in you just see a bar and communal tables, but there is more space in the back with an open kitchen. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I'm not a fan of Manhattan Clam Chowder but when I saw the bowl of soup being served to someone else I had to have it. It was not your watery kind of soup, it was thick and had clams in the shell and chucks of veggies. It was so delicious I had to sop up the left over soup with bread. I ended up ordering the Spaniard Mussels and I quietly ate the whole bowl (when I'm quiet you know the food is good). My husband got the tuna steak and said it was delicious too. Its a little pricey but the food and service is good. I would definitely come back!

Food was great. Service started out slow--took a while to get our water and drinks from bar. However, server acknowledged the oversight and the service was stellar the rest of the time. Sliders,Thai mussels and calamari were yummy. The Bronx pale ale and glass of Chardonnay topped it off nicely. They even have non-seafood options if everyone in your party isn't into seafood. The sliders appeared to be made on site with fresh meat. There is a great bar area with sports on TV, a back dining room and outside seating. We will definitely be back!

This place is hands down one of the best restaurants in Bay Ridge. The service is friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. The menu is loaded with variety and I try something new every time I go. Great for date night or a family/friends lunch/dinner. Highlights: fra diavlo mussels, seafood pasta, grilled shrimp, spicy red snapper, Cajun shrimp and chicken, basil pesto shrimp, and chicken Marsala (switched off the menu for rolatini...bring it back!). Great drinks. Always leave happy and impressed. Excellent restaurant!

They should change the name to mussels and LESS!!! Wierd menu, everything from ribs to all kinds of fish. It seems like a mish mash of menu items. The mussels at their price are not enough to be worth it. The taste was pretty good but they are just regular sized ordinary mussels and you would have to eat like three pots to make a dent in your appetite. I ordered shrimp scampi over linguini and i could not believe how little pasta was in the dish. It was like four fork fulls of pasta and just reg dry past mind you!!! The shrimp were small and nothing great not to mention the dish was drowning in some kind of broth/sauce, it was laughable and sad at the same time! Im not gonna go into any more details just would never go back and urge you to do the same. Too many choices in the area to go here.

I was a bit wary of getting seafood in Bay RIdge because of a not so great experience at another restaurant...but I'm SO glad I came here! As soon as we walked in, the owner/manager came to greet us. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender. We knew right away we wanted to have mussels but when we opened the menu there were about 20+ different styles of mussels. Whoa! We asked the bartender for a recommendation and he recommended the Fra Diavolo...which sounded simple, but it was delicious... We also got a seafood salad which had (more) mussels, calamari, shrimp, over a bed of mixed greens and avocado...everything was PERFECT. Oh, we also ordered a side of asparagus but they kind of forgot, so by the time it came they just gave it to us on the house. Nice! And the bartender had a heavy hand when refilling our glasses of chardonnay. I'll def be coming back to try all the varieties of mussels!!!

The menu here has a very good variety. I ordered the classic pizza after reading all the reviews, but it fell short. The crust was thin, but all soggy. My two year old didn't want to eat it cause it was so mushy underneath. The paella had to be one of the best in Brooklyn. The mussels were also fantastic (no matter which sauce). The baked clams, salmon, linguine were all very tasty as well.

Mussels & More is one of my favorite restaurants and my favorite in Bay Ridge. I have dined here a few times and finally writing a review. I absolutely love the seafood salad. It is a meal in itself and certainly large enough for two. The grilled shrimp skewers are delicious and the scallop dish I had the other night was amazing. Very large scallops served with risotto and vegetables. The menu goes beyond mussels/seafood and there are plenty of items I will try on return visits. Service is always friendly and I love the dining area outside. The interior also has a nice ambiance. I have brought friends and family here for dinner and everyone enjoyed. They have a nice bar, outdoor seating and great food and service. A+

This place is only good if its the first time you are trying it. I tried this place twice and will NEVER go back again. We went in a group of 10 or more for a friend's birthday. Service was horrible! Didn't serve us bread, missing utensils, flagged down the waiter/waitress like 10 times just to get soemthing we need. Where was the owner? Busy mingling with customers he feels that would give them the best reviews. Well guess what? You're def not getting a good one from me. Food wasn't as great the second time. Dishes were extremely salty! Killed my tastebuds. I will never be return to this restaurant or recommending this place to any of my foodie friends.

Let me start off by saying that the food was pretty good. The service, however, was not. This was definetly the weirdest dining experience I've had to date. My husband and I walked in here one night, were seating outside. The host (manager?) handed us menus and literally the waitress walked up just as our menus were handed to us and asked "are you ready to order?" How she could miss the menus being handed to us in front of her is beyond me. We said no, of course, but my husband did order a drink (vodka, grapefruit juice and a touch of cranberry), and she told us that she didn't think they had grapefruit juice. No biggie. Our waitress came back a minute later with bread, but no oil/salt/pepper. We had to ask the waitress at the table next to us because our waitress was no where in sight for quite some time. When we finally ordered, I asked if I could substitute the side of rice for a small serving of penne a la vodka, which we would be willing to pay extra for. My order was a $22 red snapper dish with a side of potatoes, veggies and rice. She said no problem. Right before she came over with our food, she cleared the bread basket and empty glasses from our table. My husband asked her for "another one," as she was taking his cocktail glass away. She said "sure," with a smile. Shortly after our food was delivered, she brought my husband a second glass of water...so now we had a total of three glasses of water between the two of us, but no cocktail, and she was off the moment she set down the glass. We were slightly bemused, and it took quite some time before she came back and he could clarify that he wanted an additional cocktail, not additional glass of water. Now, when our food was delivered, I literally had a massive portion of penne a la vodka (it had to be entree sized)...with a side of red snapper, no potatoes, no veggies. Since my husband had ordered a similar branzino dish, I was able to steal one of his delicious lemon-y roasted potatoes. When the check came, we were not happy to see that my meal ended up costing $32. $22 for the fish, and $10 for the penne a la vodka, (which was normally $11). If I had know that I would be saving a dollar, but not getting veggies or potatoes, I would have just ordered an $11 penne a la vodka entree and a $22 fish/veggie/rice/potatoes entree. The service had been dismal up until that point though, so we decided to just pay and leave. After waiting a good while, our waitress finally came over, my husband paid, and after he signed the receipt and left her a tip, he handed her back the little check book thingie as she passed us by. He thanked her for her less than stellar service, and she literally didn't say anything until she was over two tables away, and then turned back and smiled, batted her eyelashes and said "thank you!" Had I not been watching her as she walked away, we would have no idea that she did this, as it was towards my husband back. The bottom line is that the food was good, but the service was not. If you're in the mood for some decent seafood, you can try this place, but if your waitress is a busty, bleach-blonde Eastern European woman, good luck!

I was looking for food at Bay Ridge area, so I searched Yelp and found this place, seem like everyone like the food but some complaint about the service, so I decided to give it a try. start off with nice clean place, the waitess, not much smile but friendly, the wine list, not really have any good wine, but everything gets better. first, the oysters (blue point) very fresh, little neck clams also good. the thin crust pizza was ok, love the greek style gill octopus. then come to the main dshes, mussels in lobster bisque are great, i can drink the sauce as soup. rack of rib fall off the bones and finger licking good. Penne Volka just the right balance of creamy/tomato and no over cook pasta. over all, very please for this dining experience, i will go back for more mussels.

My wife and I live right around the corner from Mussels & More, so we were pretty happy when it first opened up as there isn't a plethora of seafood restaurants in Bay Ridge. We visited back when they were still in the soft opening stages one Friday. The beers were cheap and the crab cakes were delicious. A good first impression. We returned once they were fully operational and with a full menu. The menu offers an array of dishes at reasonable prices. On our multiple visits I've had the salmon teriyaki (recommend) and the cajun shrimp (also recommend). Each table is given fresh bread and a pesto-like spread. It's delicious and a great holdover prior to eating dinner. The service is pretty solid here. As one person mentioned, it seems like they're a little bit on the understaffed side, but it is always packed when I walk by so it's not a deal-breaker. Also, the owner is always there. A really nice guy and usually greets the guests or stops by your table to check on you. A nice touch. Overall, it's a great addition to the neighborhood and I'm glad to see it doing so well. Funny side-note: Before it opened up, I remember walking home and this couple in front of me stopped to look at the awning. The boyfriend asked "so, is this going to be a gym or a protein shake bar or something?" Obviously mistaking mussels, for muscles. Whoops.

Disclaimer: This review starts out bad and gets good The first time I went I sat outside and the waitress didn't seem to understand the menu, didn't understand the question when we asked where the oysters and clams were from, brought the food in the wrong order (side of fries with appetizer), and forgot to ever bring me one of the beers I ordered. Everything took forever to come out and she never really stopped by our table (so I was unable to even politely remind her about the beer). However, when the mussels came they were very good for the price, although not mind blowing. (I just got the regular mussels in white wine sauce and my wife had fra diavlo.) The second time we went we sat inside, which had a decidedly different atmosphere - maybe they just have the bar waitresses tending to the customers outside and they were overwhelmed or under prepared. Maybe it was just an off day. The dining room is really nice and the service was much better. This time I got the mussels with clams and bacon, which was fantastic and my wife got the mussels with shrimp and pesto, which was even better. My advice - eat inside, try one of the more interesting mussel combos on the menu, and whatever you do, do not get the mac and cheese. It is awful. Also - there is one unisex bathroom with like, six stalls. It is very strange.

Very nice. The space is pretty big for Bay Ridge. There's a full bar in the front which confused us because we thought we were going to dinner, then the waitstaff showed us to the back which opened up to a very spacious dining area. Fried calamari - came with a bit of balsamic vinaigrette, really good. Grilled octopus - order this, it's excellent. Steak - the "& more" part of the menu. they didnt try to fancy it up, just good ol yummy juicy steak. good job. Mussels with mushroom and bacon - came in a huge pot, excellent! Fries - was okay Our food was delicious sans the greek salad. Sad to say, bay ridge really have work on the salad department. Everything is always drenched with too much dressing. Moving on to the bar in the front. I am totally impressed with 4 chilling gadget machine thingy that place bottles of liquor upside down with a spigot ready for taking shots. No more watered down shots! So impressed i actually took a picture to upload, which is a first.

Driving by one Saturday afternoon, the sounds of sweet jazz floated through the air. Across the street, underneath the bright blue awning, was this place.....clearly popular...filled with people, music and the vibe of a summer afternoon. Looking up on the awning the name Mussels & More. I quickly looked it up on Yelp and bookmarked it. Last Friday, I finally made it into Mussels & More....what a fabulous experience. It is definitely a huge plus when as a single diner you are made to feel just as welcomed and important as the party of 4 and party of 2 ahead of you. So from the entrance it was a hit! The top-notch level of service continued throughout the evening. The menu was extensive, yet well put together, as promised. Mussels any way you want them... a seafood lovers dream!! The seafood pasta dish the couple next to me ordered looked so good I almost snatched their plate away. But, then my order arrived in all its steaming glory.... lobster bisque mussels and the grilled octopus. Absolute perfection! The grilled octopus... so tender.. slightly smoky from the grill char and served with fresh lemon and olive oil based dressing.. delicious!!! My oral orgasm intensifyied when I took my first taste of the lobster bisque mussels... tender, sweet, delicious!! OMG! The broth was perfectly balanced with cream and tomatoes... I used the foccacia bread to sop up every bit of broth. Absolute heaven!! Mussels & More was a fantastic experience and definitely worthy of a repeat...and a repeat! Special thanks to Jim for the wonderful time!

Been here a bunch of times, and was there on opening week. The mussels are still tasty as always, and their selections/flavors rotate occasionally, but the mussel portions have shrunk. This is not to say they are skimping and you don't get your fair share, you do, kinda, maybe, but they used to give A LOT more. I guess as long as you don't feel that you're getting less than you used to, this place is A-ok. But with the current price to mussel ratio, I can only give it 3 stars, max. Also an okay place to eat, sit at the bar and watch the game without the 'sports/jock' crowd.

Alright, Third Avenue restaurants! You've got yourself some competition! And how welcomed it is!! We spent a beautiful Saturday night enjoying the chilled, classy yet casual ambiance of Mussels and More. It was a little after 8pm when we were seated, and every table was filled. There were a great mix of tables of 2, 4, a round table for 5 in the middle, and tables pushed together for groups. I would call ahead and see if they do reservations, bc the place was packed even when we left at 10pm! The biggest disappointment of the night was our waitress who was about as dim-witted as they come, but the owner, a friendly man who is also a wine distributor, was able to assist us with some wine bottle selections (they have glasses for about $8 or about 20 bottles to choose from, ALL less then $50!!!!!). We chose the Gewurztraminer from Greece, a rare choice. And that is really what makes this spot 5 stars. The owner stuck a beautiful, clean, classy restaurant in Bay Ridge and considered the audience of the neighborhood when choosing the menu; an ethnically diverse 'hood were people don't want to pay $80 for a bottle of wine and pay top dollar for small portions of mediocre food. The menu is about as diverse as the population in BR; bar appetizers, steaks, about 5 choices of mussel dishes, vegan options, fish and other seafood (raw, steamed, fried...)...etc. As for our choices, we had a raw oyster for $2.50, some raw little neck clams, and the Fungi and Italiano mussels. These are served just as they are at Flex Mussels, and while it's fair to say that they're not quite as flavorful as Flex, they're several bucks cheaper and there are more mussels. And don't forget the bread. Dip your bread in the mussel juice and you've got yourself another meal. Boom. So come one, come all, and enjoy.

Excellent service. Try the Dijon Mussels - amazing..must have! German Potato Soup - awesome! We celebrated our son's 18th birthday here and had a great time. Great atmosphere. Our son had a steak which was outstanding. Next time we're in the NYC area, we will definitely be back here.

Bay Ridge is a changing! 5th avenue used to bring to mind dive bars and beers. I always preferred 3rd ave . This restaurant will be added to my list! Definitely be back. Manager Jim super nice. Greeted us right away and sat us within 5 min. We had reservations. Staff and service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is more casual than other Bay Ridge restaurants, but the food above par! We ordered grilled octopus , which came recommended on Yelp and fried clams for appetizers. My husband had the swordfish for dinner and me the Mussels Bisque. Super delicious. Alone with 2 glasses of wine, our bill wasn't even $100. Great new place in the good old ridge!!

Don't go here!! After seeing roaches in the bathroom about 6 months back I vowed to stay away from this restaurant. We happened to walk by and saw that they now had an A in the window for cleanliness and decided to give it a second chance. What a mistake!!!! We walked in at 6:45 ordered food and a glass of wine. We paid the bill at 7:30 and were sitting and finishing our glass of wine. At 7:40 a manager walks over to our table and says we have been there for 2 hours and that they had to ask us to leave because they had reservations coming in. Completely shocked I explained that we had only been there for about an hour and spent over $150 for a table for 2. Not only was the manger rude and arrogant but never once apologized for the rush or miscommunication. I couldn't believe it when we walked to the front and there wasn't even anyone waiting on a table. If you are looking for over cooked mussels, a less than friendly staff and a run in with some roaches then go here otherwise, spend your time and money someplace else.

We tried two of the more standard mussels dishes - the Classic and the Fra Diavolo, though they tried to steer us to more expensive offerings. Both were very good, as were the rather pricey fried oysters. The servers were, frankly, a bit on the clueless side. Overall OK though, and we enjoyed our night out.

I have no reason to explain why I thought Mussels & More was going to suck. Did I not get enough sleep the night before? Did I not have enough caffeine during the day? Was I simply dreading the article I had to write after the meal? I really don't know where I'm going with this. All I know is that I was in a crappy mood and fully expected Mussels & More's food to taste like swamp @$$. But I'll be damned. Mussels & More is a pretty damn fine addition to the neighborhood. Between my dining companion and myself, we had the following dishes: Baked Clams Mexican Mussels Some kind of Italian Mussels French Fries Everything was great. The clams were wonderfully tender and scrumptious, and the mussels were pretty awesome too. The fries are also some of the best in the neighborhood. The servings of mussels are also really big considering the reasonable price. Our waitress was also very sweet and attentive, and made sure I had enough caffeine running through my veins to run a marathon. Two thumbs up, I'll be coming here again. Quick note to management: lose the paper menus and get something that showcases your food!!!

Great meal here recently. The mussel portions are decent size, enough as a meal with bread for dipping into the delicious broths. Can't say the same for the other entrees though, I thought they were on the small side, although they were tasty - we had the codfish, fins and chips and lobster roll. We also had the chowder/soup and the fried calamari appetizer which had fried oysters and shrimp as well. Would definitely come back.

Went here for me and my twin sisters birthday last night, well attempted to anyways. I made a 9pm reservation for 9 people . We were a few minutes late and the manager, if you can call him that, told us our table would be ready shortly . Well 45 minutes later and asking about 3 times about our table, we gave up on waiting and asked him yet again nd he said ok " give me 6 minutes in Greek time" which we had no clue what that meant , but found out it just meant 20 more minutes. We finally gave up and I was infuriated with him, mind you he was wreck less and looked disheveled , hair messy and his tupee or hairpiece was misaligned and he was clearly drunk to add to it ! When we said if it's not ready in 2 mins we are leaving he told us it was our fault that we were late but our table was ready now . How convenient!!! He was extremely rude to us , unorganized , and obviously does not care about his business nor his customers. When we were leaving we made it clear we were not coming back since this place was unorganized and the manager was drunk. Well he did not like that so he shooed us out the door to be quiet and told us to "shove it up our ass" how professional . Instead of being hospitable and handling the situation like a real business man he decided to curse at us and lose all that buisness and blame us for his mistake !!! I call this place MUSSELS AND LESS!!! No costumer service nor hospitality DO NOT GO HERE!! Ruined my bday !!

rude staff, rude owner. After spilling marinara sauce all over one of my guests, the owner could not are less. I left a more detailed review earlier, but it has been removed. Please do not be fooled by the good reviews because the nice ones have been taken off. The food was mediocre, waiters were clumsy and rushed things, and the owner was very rude. Never again.

Ugh where to begin. The awning on this restaurant and the exterior design are beautiful. It's all downhill from there. The interior is kind of odd looking like they didn't know what ambience they wanted so the bar is totally different from the restaurant. The food is maybe a 2 out of 5 but the service brings this wayyyyy down to a 1. The waitresses do not speak English. I think the bartender does but by that point its too late because the waitresses have just created something in their heads that they think you ordered. We had three different women wait on us and not one of them got anything right. Can we back up also and ask why three different women waited on us? It's not like I yelled at the first two that they were incompetent (though trust me I wanted to). I couldn't leave this place fast enough. Stop hiring the children of your friends and hire a real wait staff. What a waste of all that time and money you spent renovating this place.

I LOVE this place and finally on my last trip was able to enjoy this fantastic restaurant. While the restaurant is not 5 star, a bit of a wait on a Friday night, not a hole in the wall it is the best place I've ever been that has mussels and other seafood. My girlfriend and I ordered the pesto mussels bucket that had mussels the sizes of small bouncy balls. and the taste was extreme. I wanted to try three other kinds but the portions were major and the cost minimal. I also had the scallops entree and my girlfriend had the salmon - we shared and were able to order dessert. The original margarita on rocks was beyond amazing. I've never had one so perfect. It was however my Valentine's Day dinner and I'm so in love and I had just had a pedi massage, this place and food was 5 stars and beyond amazing. Go, you must!!

We have been to this restaurant many times for many celebrations and have found the food to be amazing. We went for Mother's Day and this time the experience was quite different. The food remained great. We ordered a bunch of appetizers such as the fried calamari and the seafood salad which were fresh and delicious. A bunch of us tried various main entrees. The only downside to this restaurant is the wait staff. The worst I have ever experienced. Ordering was such a chore as the waitress did not know the menu and kept asking us to repeat ourselves. She didn't even recognize some of the menu items. She even took the menu away from me before I was able to place my order. And literally placed it away, came back, and asked me what I wanted. I was trying to order the appetizers for the whole table which is what you usually start off with...and she kept getting frustrated and hurrying me by continuously asking me what my main entree was. Then when the dishes came out (those that were fulfilled on our order), they were all mixed up and not prepared the way we asked. Half the guests received what they ordered. Obviously she did not understand us. And of all the orders, she messed up all the mothers' orders. In addition to that, she was very unresponsive as you would ask her for stuff like additional bread to soak in the mussel sauce and they would never come. And then some of our orders never came to the table. After we all finished some of our meals, we asked her to cancel what never made it to the table. When the bill came, of course they were added. And on top of that, gratuity is added automatically. In this situation, I would not leave the 20% they automatically added for such terrible service - defeats the whole principle of gratuity. And because everybody was so frustrated with the service, we decided to return home for coffee and dessert to finish up our Mother's Day Celebration. Anyways..Happy Mother's Day and good luck if you already booked this restaurant.

I am not a seafood lover and so I wouldn't normally eat at a place where "mussels" is in the name of the restaurant. However, I was delighted and happy with the selections under the "more" part of the menu. I ate the cajun shrimp with avocado wrap and thought it was great. It had a good amount of shrimp and avocado with a nice taste. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with plenty of seating outside and inside. I will admit I do miss the old Canteena...I love Mexican food.

Loved the bar area. In terms of food, don't waste your time ordering anything other than their seafood--mainly their mussels! We started with the salmon chowder and it was delicious! For entrees, we had the lobster roll, fish and chips, and the lobster bisque mussels. The lobster roll was a big let down--too much mayo/ sauce making the bread soggy. The fish and chips was decent--the fish was cooked nicely, but the chips were nothing special. The lobster bisque was really good. I would def. come back to order from their menu of mussels!

tried it for the first time with my wife and they actually have a nice menu even if you dont want just seafood. I had the fried calamari for an appetizer and did not have complaints. My wife had the clam linguine and I had the shrimp wrap for the main course. I was pleasantly pleased with the shrimp wrap since i thought it would be packed with salad and tomatos etc etc. Instead it was as basic as you can get. A bunch of seasoned shrimp, some avacado and thats it. Just how i like it. Nothing else getting in the way. Tasted the pasta as well and it was good. Service killed the experience though. It was great in the beginning, then we never saw the waiter again and my wife's martini glass as well as my beer glass were empty from the beginning of dinner to the end. I shouldnt say we didnt see the waiter as we constantly saw him pass us by. Too bad, they could have made more money on us in the form of drinks. Then we waited over 15 min for our check. A side issue was seating. We sat outside, but they positioned the tables between large planters which gave us ZERO leg room and zero room to position the chair. I believe the owner (or manager) was there last night as he was the only one just sitting around looking at the place and not dressed in black (like the staff). He also seated us when we came in, but I'm surprised he didn't notice us not getting served. I hate it when service can ruin a good experience. I do think their food is good and I will try them again.

Wife and I found this place by chance. We liked it a lot. We both had linguine with white clam sauce and shared a bottle of wine. Wine seemed a bit overpriced. The entrees were good but could have used more garlic. Service was very good. The owner, Jim, was very pleasant. We sat outside on the avenue and enjoyed people watching.

The worst place in Bay Ridge, hands down!!! The food was tasteless and disgusting, the waitstaff walked around like they had no idea what was going on and the place is always empty! You need to close! The waitress barely spoke english and when I asked for a glass of water, please don't ask me two times "what did you want"? The mussels in the white wine broth had ZERO flavor. How about you add some more parsley, garlic, stock... something! Just thinking about this place makes me mad. I love mussels and I wish it was good, but no!

I've been to Mussels and More three times. The first two were good, good service good food. The third time i went we were very disappointed. I had the fish and chips which was good, my wife had the heirloom tomato and tropical fruit salad. The problem with the salad was the tomatoes were cherry tomatoes not heirloom. When i asked the waitress she asked the owner and he told her these were heirloom with out coming by to check. I then asked her to have him come over and he again said they were heirloom tomatoes. He either didn't know what heirloom tomatoes were OR he was lying. When i pressed, he then changed his story and said maybe the chef ran out becuase they had over 700 covers (tables) the prior weekend. If that's the case, then discount the salad. He then went on to say that the fruit was the most expensive part of the salad (at this point I know he clearly doesn't know what heirloom tomatoes are). After that, he said if she didn't like it, he would gladly take it in the back and eat it himself, that it was very good. The point im trying to get across is he should have asked his chef first if he was unsure of what an heirloom tomato was. He choose to lie and then insult our intelligence and quite frankly was a bit rude. On top of all of that, I left him a note with my bill, explaining to him what he did and how i felt insulted by what happened. I even left him my email address in case he wanted to follow up. 1 month later, no reply. So you have lost my business. What a shame.

I've actually never had the mussels here but the "more" part of the menu is pretty good. There's a teriyaki salmon dish that is delicious and the shrimp wrap is filling and tasty as well. The potatoes that come on the side for the entree dishes are sooo good. Bar area in the front which is noisy and dining area in the back which is also noisy. Service is a little slow and when you're waiting to be seated its a little awkward because you're just standing there until someone notices you, so they should look into getting a hostess.

Great customer service, really fresh oysters and grilled octopus was cooked immaculate! So many different varieties of mussel dishes. 100% completely satisfied with this Seafood restaurant, especially that it is so close to home!

Went to dinner here after reading some reviews here on Yelp. I was not disappointed at all. They boast a very large menu, and everything we ordered (seafood salad, and of course mussels) was great. Service was attentive and good. Will be going back soon.

Didn't try much on the menu except for the classic mussels, which were pretty darn good. Bar staff drifted from attentive to semi-attentive. They did a really nice job renovating, especially the bar area. The bathroom situation is a new twist on unisex and completely bizarre (unisex being a misnomer imo, since unisex is generally 1 room that serves both and this is one room with 4 stalls). Do not want to pee, etc. in the stall next to my grown son/date/male friend, etc. Yuck. You lost a star for that.

When you walk in, you may think this is only a bar. But there is a restaurant style seating in the back that is quite intimate. It is fairly dark except for the bright lights in the kitchen and the music lightly plays in the background. There is a variety in selection for mussels and other seafood items so it was hard to decide. The grilled octopus is very very delicious except they do not give you much. So if you don't want to pay $13 or so, don't get it. The calamari is normal and you can order raw oysters if you like. The mussels in lobster bisque was worth the price. It came with almost two dozen mussels in a pot of bisque with pieces of lobster. The red snappper was cooked to perfection and the rice was a delicious addition. The portions at this place range from ok to leftover. The prices here are very reasonable for seafood and the service was decent, not exceptional. This is a must try for those seafood lovers in Brooklyn.

I came here with my brother and mother and some friends. I had seafood paella which was wonderfully fresh. My mom had the spicy red snapper and loved it. Service was excellent! My son had the steak sandwich which he loved and had to bring home a cannoli because they gave nice size portions. Great atmosphere and very nice people. I would definitely eat here again!

Okay....good news first. If you are a part of this restaurant please stick around for the bad news because it has an important message. I went to Mussels & More this weekend. The place was happily crowded, clean and the staff was very accomodating considering we arrived without a reservation which is clearly needed on the weekends. The Owner (or Manager) was extremely helpful on the floor and made sure my friend and I were comfortable. Well done. I will start by saying that my main dish, mussels Spanish style with chorizo and red wine, were delish. There are so many different mussel preparations to choose from and I am willing to bet each are done well. Bravo. Go there and order mussels. Now the bad news. I started my meal with oysters, specifically Blue Points. I love oysters. I was excited to have oysters. The actual oysters served were fresh, clean and of a good quality....BUT..... Mussels & More currently do not know how to prepare and serve oysters. Oysters in their shell should not lay in there dry. They should be in their liquor, or water. There is where the flavor lies. Oysters should also be separated from their shells fully. This did not happen, which made the oysters dry, flavorless and difficult to eat. Cocktail sauce. Cocktail sauce should not taste like ketchup. Cocktail sauce should be tangy and mixed with horseradish. Horseradish should also be served on the side. Not to push the envelope, but oysters are also well complimented by Mignonette sauce. It's not hard or expensive to make, and it elevates the taste of the oyster. Mussels & More.....please change the way you serve the very nice oysters you have. If you do, I will be there for them and I am sure I won't be the only one. While I'm at it, half price oyster happy hour would be a great idea for week days. Just sayin.

we returned reluctantly this past weekend. we were very very happy we did. the food was good as we expected. i had the fish salad. one of the best i ever ate. very fresh fish and the avocados were on point. i also had a margarita. delish! they had a few tequilas to chose from, i was impressed. but the best part about the diner was the staff!! finally they hired staff that knew what they were doing. our waiter was attentive, made suggestions and knew what he was talking about. the waiter even went as far as to take my son and show him fish that were whole in the freezer. he made my sons day. he also put togther a birthday plate of deserts for my son. the deserts were delish and the waiter did a great job on a moments notice. we will def be going back now that the staff changed!!

This place was surprisingly good. One of the three octopus dished we ordered was not good, I would avoid the octopus next time. All of the other apps we got were delicious and the mussels we ordered were excellent. We had 3 or 4 different mussel dishes. For a large party it was really cheap, about $50 a person, and we drank a lot of wine and had many oysters as well. I would have liked the oysters to be on ice, which is how they are customarily served, not just on a plate\.

Nice addition to the neighborhood. For apps we ordered the fried calamari, raviolis, octapus, and clams (I know, pigs... oink). I ordered the swordfish, it was very delish, my boyfriend ordered the steak which was also delish. The service was great, and the wine was pretty good too. We didn't have room for dessert after our obnoxious amount of apps, so next time. I liked the bucket of bread with the dippin sauce, it was a cute touch I felt like I was in New England and not in Beruit, I mean Bay Ridge. I will definitely come back, for the price it was a solid meal.

Fabulous, great seafood places are rare and every neighborhood can use one. Now we have two, add this to BEEBO which opened earlier in the year and is also a classy joint. The food here was just superb. I had the regular mussels and a delicious New England clam chowder. Prices were more reasonable then the 3rd Avenue place and the atmosphere more relaxed. I can't say enough good things here, consider me a future customer. Only negative, Bay Ridge is not ready for unisex bathrooms.

Finally took the opportunity to try this place which replaced our old favorite Canteena some time ago, and was very VERY pleasantly surprised. The outdoor seating was a nice touch, the waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. Wife's Grilled octopus appetizer was awesome, and I had the clam combo which was a nice mixed dozen with horseradish on the side so I could make my own special clam cocktail sauce. The menu is quite extensive and it was difficult deciding what to have. I went with the mussels over linguine marinara sauce and it was delicious. Portions were quite generous, and despite being totally stuffed, we had to try the raspberry mouse dessert which was also exquisite. We will definitely return to try some more different items, and highly recommend this establishment.

Ok * Read the reviews ? Not sure how they are way off * Must be hype. My experience was not good, The service was not good * our waitress was definitely new to the profession. The Classic Mussels were too bland not enough garlic, actually i dont think there was garlic in the dish. We were left at the table with no water, which I did ask for a glass* NO napkins during our meal. We tried to get the attention of the waitress without making a scene and she was just overwelmed. NOT her fault, the management should have had more people helping out it was a friday night dinner crowd. Ordered a mixed drink from the bar and was served an unusually small glass with lots of ice. NOT impressed and wont be trying it again.

Been here several times now and no reason to ever go back. No happy hour specials! In Bay Ridge it's a total Bar town that's ridiculous! The mussels are so tiny it's hard to believe. This is their signature item. Their red sauce has an odd strong off-putting taste. Ordered two items had to asked three times for the 2nd item. The bathroom is embarrassing. Unisex?? And the stalls (not sure if they're big enough to be considered stalls). I don't want to go next to members of the opposite sex. Can't think of a reason to ever go back.

Took my seafood loving husband here for his birthday. The service was cordial and attentive. The grilled squid was simple but done to perfection. The mussels Fra Diavlo were just spicy enough. THe beers were reasoably priced. A great local find. We will definitely return.

Food is great! Wonderful selection, and seafood is fresh and delicious. The wine is pretty terrible however, and should really be of a higher quality for $8 a glass. I took one sip, sent it back (I never do this!), and ordered a beer. Apparently, this was a huge deal. I got charged for the wine and had to fight it to be taken off the bill - a bill of $140, mind you. This restaurant has real potential! They should really think about getting quality wines that showcase their food, rather than selling a $10 bottle for $8 a glass.

This Place rocks!! Not your average Bay Ridge eatery. Service, food, prices.....excellent!! When I try a place like this I like to do tapas-style. Every appetizer was better than the next. Dont be a Bay Ridge sceptic, try it. You'll be impressed, and your wallet won't take a huge hit either.

Horrible food. They have a way of messing up traditional food. There are olives added to just about every seafood dish. There are NOT supposed to be olives in paella. Plus there were olives in all of the mussel shells instead of mussels. In the whole dish with 12 shells there were only 4 mussels. Not to mention that the seasoning and tomatoes were so bad that I was sick from the time I ate until I threw up about 1 1/2 later. Lousy way to spend a Friday night. But that wasn't the worst part - we were a party of 10 trying to celebrate a birthday. When a party of 14 entered the staff and manager tried there best to push us out the door. The manager went so far as to ask us to leave the dining room to try to squeeze into the bar for the birthday cake presentation. The waitresses were directed to quickly remove plates and they snatched plates from people that were still eating. Not a pleasant place and the birthday celebration was dampened because of it. The good thing for them was that the tip was already included in the bill. I guess that excuses them from actually be courteous.

Food is still delicious. Mussels and seafood paella are definitely some of the best I ever had. But I just wanted to point out a really awkward experience I had with the owner. So 4 of my friends and I decided to celebrate a friend's birthday. We brought a cake and asked the owner if we could leave it in the fridge. He says "You know we have a policy right?" and we ask "oh do you have a cake cutting fee?" with him responding "no, but the owner gets a slice." It was all fun and laughter because that definitely sounded like a joke to me. It was actually the second time my party brought a cake to the restaurant and the kind waitress said no such thing. What, did you just implement that policy on the spot? Cake time comes around and he goes "don't forget me" and we laugh again. Then he comes over, says nothing, and sets a plate next to the cake (which my friend is cutting at this point). By reflex, she would put the slice to the closest plate. Owner comes back, walks by, takes the plate, briskly says "thank you" and walks away. *awkward silence around the table*. WELLLLLL here's this cake that we paid for, that none of my friends has touched, not even the birthday girl. You come up to us and takes a plate off our table without engaging in any conversation whatsoever. RUDE. You just interrupted our celebration with your impatient need for a slice of cake. RUDE. You already reminded us once, but then immediately come back and take what you want like a child. RUDE. We are grown ups. If we agreed on a "deal" (what kind of decent restaurant does this), at least have the respect that we will fulfill our end of the deal. Awkward. My friends and I will look back and laugh at this, but that is definitely something you should not do. Anyway, service gets really slow when its packed, but the waiters were pretty polite so I was okay with it. They forgot one of our entrees, but rushed it out when they noticed the error. Great food, bad service = mediocre restaurant Great food, good service = great restaurant

Was a walk in with a friend on a Wednesday night and it was a lovely experience. The front bar area is spacious with lots of casual seating for drinking, eating or watching the game. The back area is a spotlessly clean, airy open sit-down in full view of a shining kitchen and the cooks who are obviously passionate about their work. Service was friendly, extremely competent and quick. We received our drinks and a tin of bread with red pepper dip and when my friend asked for butter, she received it immediately. Our appetizers were grilled octopus and breaded fried clams. I cannot rave about the octopus enough ... it was SO tender! Like fine steak. I couldn't have made it that perfectly if I'd worked on nothing else for years. The side oil and vinegar was top quality (and I don't like oil and vinegar, but I saved it on the side.) The clams were also cooked perfectly, but the breading was a little overwhelming. However if you pulled a little off, they were delicious. The mussels come in a stainless steel pot, with another bowl on top for the shells. I had the Bisque flavor and it came with, get this, six whole lobster claws included in the DELISH sauce and huge pile of perfectly done mussels (this for $20!) My friend has the Thai pot which was light and very authentically flavored. Since it was a birthday night, we had dessert. They are not made on the premises but were presented tastily, with fresh strawberries and the chocolate gelato was great. The bill was reasonable for the feast we enjoyed and we look forward to returning. Highly recommended!

I was extremely disappointed with the lobster rolI It was to be on a toasted bun but was on a soggy bun The description stated chunks of lobster, but there was not a subtenant piece, they were long and shinny; they looked like they were from the tenticles. In addition a lot of celery filler and dry. On the otherhand, fries were great

Came here with my two best friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. We didnt make reservations but thank god there was no wait. We ordered a whole lot of appetizers and shared 2 entrees. I thought all the dishes tasted pretty good except for maybe one. Customer service was good becos they were attentive and even did well in bringin the dessert out in the end for our birthday boy. They have a list of alcohol and i had wine becos that went well w seafood for me. I would def come back to try more things.

Absolutely amazing, ordered Chilean Sea bass and it was absolutely to DIE for!!!!!! If I was sitting on death row I would have this dish ordered. The crust in the fish and fish tasted like butter, it melts in your mouth. The white clam sauce paired with it brings the whole thing together. And also, the tuna steak ordered rare and it was seared to perfection with what seemed like a rosemary garlic olive oil. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal and would come back. For bay ridge it's a little pricey but you get your money's worth.

Saw this place on yelp and got to come here for the bf's father's birthday with a party of 5. When we first arrived, we entered the empty open air bar confused because there was no one there, but if you walk further in on the right side, you enter into the inside dining area. The bar had like 3 (or more) TVs and nice looking bar seats. The inside dining is simple, but has a romantic feel (as the bf puts it) because of the exposed brick and the place must get great light with their full length glass door/windows which overlook a serene side street. After the food we got, there are still tons of dishes I want to try here! We got the grilled octopus, grilled calamari, dozen little neck clams, personal pizza, Cajun pasta with chicken (instead of shrimp), penne alla vodka, mussels in Thai basil sauce, shrimp dumplings, the seafood paella, a bloody mary and bottle of wine. The grilled octopus was very good, nice and tender. I liked them better than the grilled calamari which tasted a little overcooked, but still had good flavor. The like neck clams were good (a little big for the bf's mother) with good cocktail sauce and horseradish. The parents really enjoyed the flavor of the Thai Basil mussels, but seemed to have found more shells than mussels (not such a big deal). I didn't try the shrimp dumplings, but I didn't hear any complaints. The personal pizza was good and crispy with dollops of sauce. The Cajun pasta was very good, creamy with mushrooms, but a bit spicy. The penne alla vodka was very good and a large portion as well. I was between the linguini fra diablo and the seafood paella, but ultimately went with the paella because I wasn't feeling so hot (ha) and the spiciness might not have helped. I was not sorry. The paella had tons of calamari, maybe like 11-12 mussels, real shrimp and chorizo as well as olives, peppers and onions. I would forgo the onions and peppers next time, but that's just me . It was so good and heaping that even after stuffing my face, I still had enough for another person. Sweet, lunch for tomorrow! All of the items mentioned above were definitely less than $20 ranging closer $15ish except my paella which was $20. Our bottle of wine was $33 and the bloody mary $7 was made strong. For dessert we had a birthday* tiramisu, tartufo and chocolate truffle cake. You pay for your desserts, but they will bring it over decorated with a candle for you. The desserts were on average $8. We had a nice time and Nicolette was our server. The food came out in good time. It was a little hard at times to get ahold of the our waitress to remove dishes or get the check, but I think because she was like the only one and the guys were there to help. She was very sweet though and patient and never looked overwhelmed. She did a good job! Definitely looking forward to coming again to check out some other dishes!

I've always passed by this place whenever I wanted to buy candy in 5th ave, but I must say, the mussels were truly truly amazing. Their broth was so savory and good, my friends snagged a few of my mussels while I wasn't looking. I would love to come here again, though I'd maybe go here for dinner on a date or reunion instead because it was pretty expensive for lunch with 2 friends. I'll start off with the mussels, though they have risen in prices you simply can't miss their quality. They're juicy, well cooked, and not too chewy. We also had a mashed potato, it was pretty big for an appetizer. It was layered in the most softest looking way possible in a smooth surface. The taste is different, they added some spices or herbs into it so it's not your ordinary mashed potatoes for sure. My friend had a shrimp cocktail which he very much loved the taste and presentation. It was evenly put on a small martini glass. Also we did not realize they had a dessert menu (we had to ask for one) and everything i believe was around $8 each. Their desserts are presented well, but I'd still prefer Jean Danet's or Your Baker's pastries and gelato over there. Lastly they also have outdoor seating! We would love to sit there except for mosquitos outside on humid summer days. My overall experience was great.

We expected Mussels and more to deliver on its namesake. Mussels and More looks like a family establishment: run by families and serving families. Across the bar had high dining tables and bar stools for your family to eat over a pint. We met in the bar area and walked to the back for seating since we made reservations and my niece and nephew could not be left alone in a high bar stools. Their servers were friendly, efficient and went above and beyond their call of duty. Their mussel pots were delicious! M&M's bread baskets were buckets filled with warm bread (and perfect crust). The ribs fell off the bone. WE ordered the Bisque and Maine Mussel sauce. The Bisque had creamy lobster soaked flavor. The Maine had large chunks of claw and tail. Both were well worth the price. All in all, it was a lovely make up Thanksgiving dinner and musselicious!

One of the best restaurants I've been to in my life. I speak the truth as unbelievable as that may sound! Staff was nice, food was great, portions were amazing, prices are perfect and the decor is fantastic. Swing by with a date or catch up with a wino friend, you'll be glad you did. If I lived closer I'd be here on a weekly basis!

Came for a friends birthday and we ordered a whole bunch of stuff to share. Appetizers were mediocre: calamari, saganaki, order of french fries and clams. Entrees we had the fish and chips, a couple of different mussels, seafood paella and the skirt steak. The fish and chips was probably the best dish out of everything. If you're in the area you can check it out but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I'd rather go into the city for better paella & mussels!

Went here after a long day with a couple of friends, we were all hungry and expected a good meal to fill us up. Unfortunately, this did not happen. Portions were pretty small for the price. My GF ordered stuffed salmon and asparagus with mashed potatoes and the salmon was two little pieces with soggy, weirdly green colored asparagus. I ordered the fish & chips and was not satisfied as well, fish was tasteless, mediocre fries. Ate this meal at 8:30ish, my gf and I are already hungry again not even 4 hours later. At $15 and $20 for our plates, it isn't worth it. In addition, my friend ordered a skirt steak to be cooked medium and it came out well done with burnt edges. Completely unacceptable, it is redundant to ask how you like your steak cooked if you'll just ruin it anyway. We laughed it off saying to bring it out raw next time, maybe we might get a medium. My waiter was eh, they refilled our bread basket once but did not bring more sauce that goes with it, which makes no sense to me. Did not come to ask if our food was okay, nor did he refill our water until after we finished eating. Again, this makes no sense. The place was far from busy as well, so more attention could/should be paid to a party of 8... Atmosphere was pretty nice though, that's about it, so I'll swing you guys a star for that. My fiancée and I came for dinner and drinks one evening. We decided to sit at the bar (like we usually do) even though there was no one behind the bar for several minutes. Finally the bartender appeared and approached us for our drink order (without apologizing for the wait). He dropped off our drinks and went to walk away, so we quickly ordered an appetizer. He was impolite and seemed like he didn't care about anything. We then had to ask for menus so we could get more food. We asked him for a recommendation for mussels and his response was very short. We went for the classic style...which were ok but nothing special. As we ate and drank, the bartender stood at the complete opposite end of the bar and didn't look at us, or anyone else for that matter, for a good 10-15 minutes. We had planned to order more drinks and food, but due to the poor service and lack of attention, we decided to get the bill and go somewhere else. I might give this place another shot, as long as I got a different server.

I like to write my reviews during dinner (shivalry is dead). Had a lovely evening here and was so pleasantly surprised by the service and of course the mussels

After reading Yelp reviews, we tried this place on a Saturday evening, and I am so glad we did! First, the service is excellent. Second, the food is super fresh and delicious! We had the coconut shrimp - so yummy! The salmon was amazing - tender, juicy, cooked perfectly, and the rest of the food was great also. The baked clams were a bit soggy, but other than that, everything was spot-on. I certainly recommend this place to everyone, and I will definitely be back. I was back a second time on a Friday afternoon, and things were okay but definitely not as good as the first time.

Came here for bf's birthday dinner and the food was just eh. I ordered the bruscetta mussels. This broth came with lobster meat that was so over cooked that the lobster tasted really dry and nasty. The meat inside the mussels were about the size of a penny, not exaggerating; it was also very bland. The soup broth was flavorful though. The seafood paella included bland calamari, shrimp and mussels with soggy rice that wasn't good. The only things I enjoyed here was the fried zucchinis and fried calamari. I doubt i'd come back here again.

Went last night for dinner, 7/9/12. Ordered the Maine lobster mussels. There were ZERO, not a single piece of lobster in the dish. I have ordered it before, and it was filled with lobster. They must have run out in the kitchen, and just decided not to tell customers that ordered it. It was BS and they shouldnt have done that. Had a bad experience, hopefully it wont happen again. The mussels were still very good. I will give them another shot, but if it happens again they will be dead to me. Update: When I wrote the post above, I was pissed off so I gave them one star. They effed up, but I have been back maybe 5 times since then, and every time it has been excellent. I am putting them back to 4 stars.

Honestly, it's one of those sad moments when you realize, "I can make this better at home." The bread was also stale. I went during lunch time and there were three patrons. Ironically, three was apparently too much for the waiter who spent all of his time talking about his life to the other wait staff. I will not be wasting my food budget here.

What a disappointment! We came back on what I guess was a Greek themed night. We had reservations but waited a half hour to sit in loud obnoxious music. I gave two stars to the cook and waitress. The food was as good as always. I had stuffed salmon my friend had mussels Valencia. The waitress was sweet and attentive, even thorough the manager/owner was yelling and cursing at customers. I'm sorry but people who come and spend their hard earned money don't want to hear the guy speak that way to his staff or other customers. How is this guy still walking? What a jerk! Kudos to the staff and cooks. Without them that place will close. We were shooed to the bar area by Mr. Personality. Our usual girl wasn't there and the atmosphere was stale. Our martinis just weren't the same. The guy was working hard with the now drunken owner/manager barking drink orders. So a star to him for putting up with that. Call first to make sure it's not a loud night.

We spend a good 4 hours there. We sat with a group of 5 people and we each ordered what we wanted. May 30th 2014, First night it opened a GREEK NIGHT and it was a night to remember. They separated the check and double the things we ordered meaning they were trying to get more money cheap ass fucking bitches. The owner came to my mother and told her she was a piece of shit and to get out of the store because he would call the police and for her to never come back again, i stepped in between them and told him to him to relax and to take a step at a time( We got in each others face and shortly after He asked for my number and my name, and i told him to go fuck himself). Our bill was 130 and we gave 150. And he gave us 75 dollars back? AND TOLD US THIS IS WHAT WE GAVE THEM? And we said what the hell is this, our change? They are highly unorganized and deserve to be shut down. I was dancing and my mother gave the server 50 dollars and 20 dollars was to be thrown on the dance floor, they gave my mother 25 dollars back? So what about the other five? And when my mother asked for the 5 dollars back they got offended? Anyone who has a brain and knows how to use arithmetic should NOT go to this place or else they will be disappointed. When I was leaving he said said he would put me six feet under ground and I told him I would love to see him try and he could call the police anytime. Side note~ I knew almost everyone in there from previous places we have hung out many times before, with the friends there, the orchestra, but the OWNER And the OWNERS MANAGER have a very bad attitude and try to get every single penny out of their costumer and are very bad hustlers, they think just because we had drinks they can fool people? When I was leaving there, another fight that was breaking out with the SAME thing as us. So a day that we went out to have a good time, came to be a total disaster because of a big cheap ass fucking piece of shit who thinks just because he has a restaurant thinks he can treat his customers with deviance. Piece of shit. ' Mario A. Notias

I came here for Easter dinner. For an appetizer we had mussels in the Lobster Bisque broth and baked clams. I thought both were very good. Everyone sopped up the bisque sauce with the bread....it was so good. I had seafood paella for my entree. It was ok. I am used to getting Paella in Newark's Ironbound, so this was a bit of a different experience. While the portion was good, I enjoy authentic Paella from the Ironbound better. My son had a cheesesteak sandwich with fries. It was a nice option if you weren't in the mood for seafood. Service was ok. We actually had better service from a waiter that was covering one of the other tables. He was very personable and kept on top of the needs of our table as well as the other tables.

This place is pretty perfect and lives up to its clever moniker. I read some of the "1 star" reviews and have concluded they were written by jealous family members, friends of fired ex-employees and worst of all: try hard hipsters. People from Bay Ridge don't use language like "locally sourced" and "wine pairing ". Stay in Bushwick, please. The grilled octopus was exceptional on (3) separate tries. The Maine Mussels are my favorite mussel dish and is enough for (2) persons. The house wines from the white selections are delicious. The owner is as gracious as other yelp'ers have noted. Enjoy!

Exceptional customer service and delightful place! The mussels were delicious and a few of the appetizers were scrumptious. Try the mussels bisque that comes with pieces of lobster tail in a large pot! I would also recommend their lobster roll and any of their other mussel dishes. Great place for a quick meal or an elegant sit-down place with friends and family. You will not be disappointed with the food or prices here.

This is a restaurant that you want to go back to because it has the perfect balance of everything. I'm not a fan of mussels, but this place has so much to offer on their menu that it never worries me! So when you walk in, it's the bar area, but hidden behind the wall and through a small hallway is a larger dining space; it's dimly lit so it gives off a quiet ambiance. If you don't know what to order, I would recommend the scallops with risotto or their crab cakes, they're pretty good. As for mussels, my friends were raving about the dijon one so you might like it too. I would say that for the selection on their menu, they do a pretty good job of making sure everything on their menu is good. I think this place is worth a stop-in AND they take reservations!

forget the mussels for a minute; if you're craving seafood in the bayridge area, this place isnt a bad pick by any means. I regularly see the owner at the front of the restaurant ready with a smile and conversation. Items worth mentioning: The calamari is well fried--you don't have the the over greasy heaviness you get from places that don't properly fry them, nor do you get the mushiness from overcooked or freeze fried calamari--it's always crispy just perfectly seasoned and just delightful. Tuna Steak Salad--for me HONESTLY something about the texture of the tuna seems a bit off--almost as if it steamed a bit...but everyone I've come here with absolutely loves it--it's really not a bad salad by any means. Oysters and one of the mussels is a must whenever we go--here's a tip--that bread they give you--it's cold and not all too soft--but try dipping that sucker in the broth of the mussels....probably my favorite part. The oysters have been spot on every time we've been here. The pasta...oh dear the pasta...i forgot what it is we ordered but be prepared to lick the plate clean The times I've been there, the drinks usually aren't watered down or any nonesense like that...i think I was disappointed only once--but usually the drinks are strong (not overbearing) and you can actually taste what it is you ordered. Overall this is a great place for brunch lunch and maybe a dinner before heading out or maybe just a place to hang out in the bar area. I've actually started to get concerned because a bunch of restaurants in this area have declined in terms of quality--but this restaurant has definitely restored some faith

After a stressful week attending my family back home in Queens, I needed a respite in a low-key relaxing atmosphere. I decided to visit an old friend of mine from "real" Brooklyn and requested a local place in her neighborhood. I specifically avoided the pretentious parts of the city (i.e. Manhattan, hipsterified Brooklyn). Living relatively far from the ocean, I needed some seafood. She suggested this place, and it was revelatory experience. We had heapings of fresh mussels in classic White Wine and Fra Diavolo sauces. It was scrumptious and surprisingly filling, flavorful without overpowering. I can't believe eating healthy could be so sinfully good. The owner was very attentive, and correctly guessed I was just visiting (probably because of my non-matching getup from packing my clothes the last minute). Overall, it was very pleasant and relaxing experience. I really loved the neighborhood, the ambience, the service, and the lack of any semblance of hipsters. I would love to come here again.

I've been to Mussels and More a few times. I would definitely recommend this place. For the mussels, I would recommend the bisque. It's so flavorful with chunks of lobster! Absolutely delicious. Per Yelp, I ordered the grilled octopus and thought it was so so. Maybe it was a bad night? But I'd probably give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again. For the pasta, I've tried penne a la vodka and linguine with white clam sauce. The linguine with white clam sauce was okay... it was a little bland. The penne a la vodka on the other hand was absolutely delicious. I LOVED it! We also had raw clams and oysters. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The baked clams appetizer was very good as well, except I wouldn't say that they're worth $12! No way! For half a dozen? NO. They're good but not THAT good. The staff and service was great and very accommodating. Always checking up on us. However, if you're there on a busy night, and you plan to order more after your original order, get ready to WAIT. By that time, you'd probably be full and ready for dessert. All in all, I'd recommend this place.

We had a delicious meal here. Just because they specialize in mussels doesn't mean other proteins get shortchanged. The skirt steak was over a foot long, perfectly grilled with a salty/sweet glaze. Grilled octopus was meltingly tender & charred to perfection. The mussels are carefully cleaned, and the portion is enough for an entree or as a shared appetizer. Yes, the domed serving tureen is larger than what it contains, that is normal. Americans have to stop expecting everything 'super sized'! The pizza's are appetizer size -just right for sharing at the bar up front. But they make a great starter to dinner in the spacious brick walled back room. Chocolate truffle cake was luscious. A cheese plate would make more sense than the yogurt w/ cashews & honey as a dessert option.... Oenophiles will find smart choices on the wine list at reasonable prices.

Came here with a big group of 15 for a birthday and going away dinner. Gotta say the service was amazing for a group that big. Dishes came out correctly and at the same time. All dishes were hot and the food came out quickly as well. The food quality was superb as well with good taste but not overbearing with sodium, etc. Will definitely come back.

I've had some good experiences here, and some bad ones. The menu is lengthy, the prices are reasonable, the service is hit or miss, as is the food. The mussels are good, but their bread is horrendous. When you serve people a proper pot of mussels, you must provide them with yummy, crusty bread to dip in the broth. Their bread is focaccia-like, but its tough and is filled with peppers. Brooklyn has some amazing bakeries, offering up amazing bread. I don't know why this place settles for their crap bread. It might sound like a minor detail, but bread is an important part of the mussel-eating experience, and when you are a restaurant specializing in mussels, you need to get your bread situation straight! The grilled shrimp and the fried shrimp are always good. The baked clams are awful- big and chewy. They really need to get some littlenecks, not these jumbo clams. We ordered oysters once, but they were not served on ice, but on soggy lettuce, which is an amateur move for a seafood restaurant. Overall, its a good neighborhood joint. Nothing to write home about. The food will never leave your speechless.

Been here a couple of times and although the food is great, staff could be a little more attentive. First time, my boyfriend and I sat at the bar. no complaints. However the second time, we were seated at a table outside and we were in a rush to make it on time to an event.. so we told our waitress of our plans. Still, the food took well over 40 minutes and all we ordered was 2 appetizers. She never came to the table.. we actually walked up to her on one occasion. Don't get me wrong, the food is great, all they need is to improve on staff.

Based on the good reviews here and hearing about the food from my sister, it seems mussels and more has good food. But try to make a reservation for a special event and expect nothing but aggravation!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We made a 9pm reservation for 9 guests on a rainy Sat night for a birthday party. Due to the rain 6 of us arrived at 9:05 and the rest 15 min later. Good thing, because our table was not ready. After waiting another 20 minutes we ask the manager whats going on. "6 , 7 minutes it will be ready.. Greek time ha ha ha" he said. I dont know what Greek time means but no one was amused. At 10 pm as we put our coats on in hopes to find an alternate place to celebrate, he said the table was almost ready. When we expressed our disappointment he blamed us for arriving late! What a joke. This man was clearly drunk . Instead of managing we found him socializing at the bar. They clearly do not care about losing a potential $500 table. Don't go there unless you want to get wasted drinking on an empty stomach at the bar waiting for a table you will never get and then be blamed!!!!!

Mussel pots could be filled more. The pots come out looking huge until they pull the cover off and you see how much is actually inside. Slight letdown, but immediately subsides with the first taste of the broth. (So maybe make the pots smaller so it looks like it fills out better!) The portion size of the mussels is actually good. I wasn't overstuffed with bread and mussels and broth so there was still room for dessert in the end. I had the Fungi while my bestie had the Bisque. Her bisque was filled with tons of lobster too! *thumbs up!*

Three stars is hard. On one hand the mussels don't disappoint but this is my second time that the service has been mediocre, or slow at best. It took at least 10 mins for our server to greet us even though he walked many plates past our way. Having been a server myself it's natural to be more aware & judgmental of restaurant service and management. On the upside, this restaurant has two female servers working a Saturday night who have a sense of teamwork and creating a welcoming environment for all, even if these ladies are not my server. Unfortunately, the rest of the servers and bartender were in there own world. Overall, the food is good but don't go if your really hungry or thirsty on a Sat night, unless you get or ask for the females server with the long brown hair (acting manager this week) because she is the best!

I'm not a big fan of mussels actually but the bf wanted to check out the 'more' so we came here on a double date. The front of the place is the bar area and it was really noisy. The quieter restaurant portion was in the back. We started off with a dozen of the raw oysters (blue point). I've only really had raw oysters at $1 oysters during happy hour and those are usually hit or miss. The oysters at Mussels & More were definitely better and fresher than the ones I had before. The fried calamari was a decent portion. Nicely battered and not too heavy. There was also a little salad with the calamari and the balsamic vinaigrette was tasty. The best part was the grilled tuna salad. I absolutely loved this salad; fresh avocados, pretty cooked tuna, the lemon vinaigrette. I would definitely get this again. We also ordered the Maine Mussels which had chunks of lobster and smoked bacon. It was only alright even though the mussels were properly cleaned and cooked. The flavor was really subtle. Overall, this place was delish. They gave us lemons with everything. Service was sub par, the food was dropped off and we were hardly checked on again until the check. Go for the food, don't think about the service.

One experience with take-out here, and one dine-in experience. The food and service were good on both occasions. I will add that I am not normally a fan of fried clams, but this place makes me a fan of fried clams. They are excellent, and I highly recommend them. Tonight, I had the scallops with risotto and veggies, and I did not get quite what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting broiled scallops. The scallops were served in a a mushroom sauce that was excellent. The mushrooms were incredible. So good that I did not even need the scallops. That said the scallops were pretty damn good too.

Went for a beer with friends. Service was terrible, whatever, I just came for a beer and talk with friends. First tap was flat. Okay whatever, it happens, taps go flat, just give me something different. I get a seltzer water before I go home. Really I'm a nice guy with low expectations for a drinking establishment, mentally I'm still probably prepared to give this place 3 stars. The bill is 9$, thats 3$ for a tap seltzer water for a drive home, and yes they are serious, so don't ask. So yeah, one star is probably pushing it. There is a nice grocer across the street. I would recommend saving a few bucks, get yourself a nice six pack, no need to wait for the bartender to stop chatting with the two other people in the bar and sit and drink with your friends on one of nearby stoops.

I came for dinner last night with my meetup group "The Bay Ridge Friends" and we had a great time!! It was a typical Saturday night crowd of happy, hungry "ready to celebrate" people! My group comandeered one and a half of the bar tables at the front of the restaurant. Even though the place got crazy busy with people waiting to indulge in one of over 15 varieties of mussels, we had great service. Our waiter was great, the bartender-who last ight happened to be the owner, Jim- was attentive and we had a great gathering! My bruschetta mussels were to die for...as usual! If you love great food, especially mussels, you must try this place.

Finally, I had to try it for myself. I have heard good and bad things, but it doesn't stop me from trying! I pretty much ordered safe past Friday night. Meaning I order the typical dishes. I wasn't being adventurous that night. First off....it was a bit odd that the bar area was in front and had to walk through the bar to the dining area. I was pretty stunned when I walked in with my party that everyone at the bar was just staring at us. It was an open kitchen restaurant, which I give them credit for working in that environment. We ordered the Appetizers: Classic Mussels a dozen Raw Little Neck Clams Fried Calamari For Entrees: Fettuccine Seafood Fra Diablo Fried Jumbo Shrimp Beef Sliders with Mussel fries Cheeseburger with Mussel fries I ordered a glass of Rose, I was pretty disappointed. There was no hint of sweetness in that wine. I am a wine drinker, I love my blush wine but didn't love that one, sadly. Then I was surprised they have Twisted Tea on the menu. So I order that. My party and I have no complaints on the food we ordered. I have to say, my Fettuccine Seafood Fra Diablo was delicious! You can taste the freshness on the Little Neck Clams. The Classic Mussels was a huge portion and also the mussels were large. The Calamari was crispy. Everyone in my party enjoyed their dishes. Now about the service, I must say I had a good meal and good service. Which is kind of rare for me when dining in restaurants. Our server name was Ji, he was really attentive to us. Besides him, I notice all the servers check up on all the tables. They are not fixated only on their own table. I like that in a waitstaff, they help each other out. Overall, I will go again and be adventurous.

This is fairly new restaurant, the staff was very very nice. Very courteous and attentive. The mussels, were not "Great" but they were just "OK". I think this comes with being relatively new and on a busy night (Friday night). The mussels themselves seemed decent, just the lack of flavor I suppose. Overall, I'd go back sometime later in the year and give them another shot. So simply, it was just "OK".

Seriously the best restaurant in bay ridge. My husband and I have been here multiple times and everything we have tried is exceptional. We have brought our friends and they feel the same. What a treasure that we share with as many friends and family as possible.

5 stars because the food is a step up from a typical seafood restaurant. Every dish is done exceptional well. We ordered the grilled octopus, seafood paella, and linguini with white clam sauce. We noticed many people ordered the grilled octopus so we gave it a try. Different from your conventional fried calamari, as you bite into the grilled octopus you'll notice the distinct grilled/charred flavor. Easy to say this is probably the best appetizer on the menu. Next came the seafood paella. It was rice mixed with a variety of vegetables and chorizo with seafood infused flavors. It has the perfect amount of saltiness which comes from the seafood its cooked with. You will certainly enjoy it. Lastly the linguini came with several large clams filled with garlic. Each forkful of pasta will be accompanied with smaller clams and bits of garlic that was scattered around the dish. Generally, a wine sauce can get soupy if too much is used but this sauce had the perfect balance of flavor and consistency. When you first step in to this establishment, you will immediately notice it's one of those fancier restaurants. The setting is a simple and cozy restaurant that isn't overrun by nautical themed décor. It may look a little small but there is more seating in the back for larger parties. Awesome place for small reunions or get-togethers.

I had the mussels in lobster sauce it was delicious. Fur dinner I had the linguini fra diablo which was lovely. It had a spicy kick to it. It was the first time I had pasta in a while ago I couldn't eat it all. They give you large portions of food. Annie our server was very polite and her recommendations were spot on. Looking forward to coming back.

I've never really visited any seafood restaurants in New York City and I think it's because I assume that the seafood isn't fresh, overpriced, and not delicious - but that all changed when I visited Mussels & More. I came here on a Wednesday evening with my boyfriend and friends and was surprised that even during the middle of the week there were families having family dinner here. The front of the restaurant is where the large bar is and in the back is where the dining room is. I like that Mussels & More is spacious, comfortable, cozy, and dim-lit. The staff here are pretty on point as well. The portions for the entrees are pretty humongous! We started off with some drinks and proceeded to order. We had three appetizers, three entrees, and two pots of mussels. We ordered the following Baked Clams - The pictures that were posted on Yelp looked amazing and I am quite a huge fan of clams so I knew instantly we had to order it. The waiter recommended that I get it with breading and so I took his recommendation. The baked clams were sensational, moist, and on point! Grilled Octopus - I heard mixed reviews about this on Yelp, but my friends wanted to try it and so we did. The grilled octopus looked amazing. I was so afraid the texture would be like hard rubber, but thankfully it wasn't. It was really a delight to eat! Saganaki - I never had this before, but I just recently learned that it is a Greek dish. The traditional kefalograviera cheese is pan-fried and served over a slice of tomatoes. This was definitely a different and new dish to try. I never had cheese pan-fried before. It was really moist and savory! Shrimp scampi served over linguine - Our friend ordered this and shared some with us. There was definitely A LOT of garlic and I do mean A LOT. The shrimps were really tender and plump. This was overall a tasty dish. Lobster ravioli - My boyfriend ordered this because he is crazy about lobster ravioli. I tried it and really liked it. It was moist, delicious, and possibly one of the best lobster raviolis I've had so far. I liked the sauce very much, had a touch of sweetness to it from the lobster meat. Angel hair seafood pasta with white wine sauce - This was truly a seafood medley and a serious hefty dish! There was a variety of seafood - shrimp, calamari, mussels, scallop, and clams. The white wine sauce was exquisite and all of the seafood were really tender and delicious. Maine Mussels (lobster, smoked bacon, chowder, and parsley) - My boyfriend and I ordered these mussels. I was so happy to see how much mussels they gave us. The Maine mussels were on point! They were moist, full of deliciousness, and amazing! Fungi Mussels (wild mushrooms, double-smoked bacon, garlic and cream) - Our friends ordered this and shared it with us. These mussels were spot on as well and just as delicious as ours. I think our only dislike about the mussels is that we couldn't taste the juices of mushrooms or lobster which is really is the second star to the dish. All we tasted was nothing but bacon and cream. I wished we could have gotten more of the juices of the lobster and mushrooms, but other than that we really enjoyed the mussels. I really enjoyed our experience and the food here. Everything was really top notch and Mussels & More is a true gem! I am planning to return here again since in my opinion summer time is the BEST time to enjoy seafood. Next time, I plan to try the Bisque mussels, Pesto mussels, and maybe even crab cakes. I'm glad this restaurant changed my opinion about eating seafood in the summer in New York City. *Note: We learned that even in a group as small as four people, you don't need to order three entrees because they are extremely huge and filling.*

I went here for dinner with my friend on a weeknight. They have a bar in the front of the restaurant, and the tables are in the back. We ordered a bunch of things and shared them all. First we had the italiano style mussels. They were in sauce with calamari. Those were very good. We also had some spinach pies with feta cheese, which were ok and a seafood salad. The seafood salad was served over lettuce. We also had paella, which had seafood and chorizo in it. This was my favorite dish, it was very good. Then for dessert we had a pistachio tartufo. Overall, I liked this restaurant and would return if in the area.

We walked in on an extremely low-staffed restaurant not being hosted the second we walked in, we did not know what to expect. After a good walk through of the restaurant, we were finally seated! Yay! We were also served w/ a free basket of bread and tomato sauce! Double yay! I was impressed by how many choices given on the menu! We started off w/ some amazing appetizers: Berry salad, Maine Mussels, and Baked Clams. SO. GOOD. The dressing for the salad was raspberry vinaigrette and it did not disappoint my acidic-oriented taste buds. The mussels were plentiful and succulent! I was more happy about the creme than the mussels b/c it was just the right seasoning on the herbs and consistency! We ordered a lot of bread for the dipping. Baked clams were a little chewy but good when doused w/ the sauce and lemon juice. *salivating* I ordered Seafood Paella, and the first thing my nose sensed was RICE. Not the spice or love but the rice. It wasn't that good b/c it was lacking seasoning but I drenched it w/ mussel creme and lemon juice . ON POINT! I love the portions. SO worth the money. I don't even care if I didn't finish b/c they're willing to bag it up. EVEN the creme from mussels and the bread!

I usually go to Flex mussels in the city to cure my mussels cravings but now I don't have to trek all the way there. We ordered thai mussels, red snapper, oysters, and their fish and chips. The oysters were very fresh and there seafood was very well cooked. I wish they expanded their desert menu but other than that the dinner that I had there was very good. Service was quick and efficient. I would recommend anyone to try this place out if they love mussels and seafood.

My dad wanted to try something new so I suggested mussels and more. I recommend the mussels, he said it reminded him of his trip in Europe with my brother last year. We ordereded the "Maine Mussels" and the broth was rich, creamy, herby and delicious. There were chucks of lobster and bacon. We asked for more bread to drip it in the broth. * if you want to take the broth to go, you can ask to pack it up*

Dined in here a few times, and I've always enjoyed the mussels. I hardly ever enjoyed the "more" part. My favorite mussels are "Bisque" and "Maine". The seafood pasta dishes aren't bad but I really did not enjoy the branzino or the crab cakes. Both tasted really fishy and not fresh. I wish they had better bread to dip in the mussel broth. It's usually kind of stale. They have outdoor seating which is rare in that area.

*located at the corner of a residential neighborhood. *family friendly, casual atmosphere, but also nice to bring a date! *Must Try: Mussels in Classic Sauce. You get a whole pot of mussels for $14! *Baked Clams are delicious. There are 6 per order. *Main entrees are huge. You will get a whole fish if you order sea bass. I got the marinated skirt steak and had a full plate along with mashed potatoes and veggies. I asked for medium but it was more well done. Still delicious and the whole thing was devoured. It was a bit salty though from the sauce, but not too overwhelming.

Why didn't I come sooner?! I personally love mussels and when my sister came here two years ago with coworkers, she had to tell me. It took me this long to finally come get my hands on a pot! They have a bar at the front, go towards the far right, walk through the little hall and you'll find the dining area. I came here for lunch earlier today, ordered some stuff from the lunch menu. Of course, I made sure I put the in order for their Classic Mussels first before anything else, just in case I forget what I came here for. I was just excited. Isn't it the cutest pot, ever? The pot is served with the lid on, open it and it lays flat on the table, perfect for shells, smart! The steam fogging up the window, the smell of the broth.....digging in! The mussels plus the aromatics were just delicious, I even used the shells to scoop up some broth to sip. Unfortunately, there were 2-3 in there that weren't cleaned well, found the beards in 'em, it happens. The Seafood Soup was actually the soup of the day, lots of seafood including calamari, salmon, and veggies. I requested my Grilled Salmon to be cooked well, the fish came perfectly seasoned, cooked well yet not overly done, moist and juicy, the side of roasted potatoes on the dish were seasoned well. Another dish that is a must have would be the Seafood Paella, from the fluffy rice, green and red peppers, to the shrimp, calamari, and mussels....lots of mussels on the table today, excellent dish, extremely flavorful. One more plate that needs to be on your table should be the Sweet Potato Fries! Crispy outside, fluffy inside, finished off by tossing them in cinnamon sugar.....Yes, cinnamon sugar. Served with honey mustard, and I must say, they paired perfectly, best fries I have ever encountered. While waiting for your order, you smell the food being cooked in their opened kitchen. The ambience felt relaxing, the brick walls were rustic, the large windows and table setting made it somewhat elegant. A place like this is worth the trip, and somewhere where I will be coming again and again.

15 minute in: where's the food? 30 minutes in: where's the food? 35 minutes in: here's more stale bread 45 minutes in: where's the food? 60 minutes in: where's the food? Signal the waiter. Don't worry it's coming. Food finally arrives Lobster is over cooked and rubbery. Weak. For a place with mussels in the name, there's absolutely nothing special about these. I hope the rest of the food was worth the wait. Fun observation: the waiters don't wash their hands after having them wrist deep in dirty dishes. Paella is underseasoned, so disappointed, I really wanted to like it. Penne vodka, really good, didn't expect that. Lobster ravioli, eh, skip it. Better options to get. Like the penne. Side note - the bathroom is tiny, fear the number 2. Wouldn't recommend this place unless the meal is free. Money and time better spent anywhere else.

Mussels were good. Everything else was hit or miss. But they can not handle a large crowd in the afternoon, by large I mean 12 people!

This is my favorite place in bay ridge . The only seafood restaurant in the neighborhood . I have been here so many times and never been disappointed . The mussels are always good and fresh . My favorite which I eat all the time is the seafood salad . It's out of this world .
